If they strike out on the likes of LMA/Jordan/Love and can't pry a RFA wing from their current teams, do they pursue players like Lopez, Chandler, and Carroll? Adding both Lopez or Chandler along with Carroll is easily done with the cap space and gives Byron a couple of nice defenders at the wing and rim. Or do they sign one year fillers like we had last season? Lots at play soon enough.

I don't know if it's what they will do, but imo, what they should do is pursue the Lopez, Carroll type players. They can easily fit under the cap and they improve the team. Then, next year, when the cap goes up and Kobe comes off the books, they will have the cap space to try to bag an elephant or 2. Plus, they'll have a much clearer idea re: what they have in Russell, Randle and Clarkson.

I may be mistaken, but I thought Kobe has played SF before.

it may not be ideal, but I think he is suited for it.

I think he's even better suited for it now than he was when he was younger.

Man, if they jell and really get their in-the-paint D fixed with the proposed bigs they may sign, we will indeed be a better ballclub with that speedy and young backcourt.

I think Demarre Carroll would be a nice addition! He is banged up a lot, or so it seemed. Are you referring to Robin Lopez? Brook is a RFA and sounds like he'll resign with Brooklyn.

The one year fliers seems to be what everyone wants, with the cap going through the roof. Could be a good signing year for us.

Do we pitch hard for Durant??

I agree TJF12. Just like Magic came back after is first retirement and he was heavier and a tad slower, Magic moved to forward. Kobe would be a deadly SF.

Love is coming to town. Scheduled an appointment with the Lakers next week. Reminds me of the Lakers did for the draft. Due diligence and then select the best player for the fit and direction of the team. We shall see how this ALL plays out.

Yea Louie, it is possible but both FAs are going to have to reduce their demands a tad and Kobe may have to chip in a few million with a re-structure of sorts. If Aldridge does not budge from a max demand and bulks, they'll go after Monore and get both Monroe and D. Jordon. This is a very interesting development and I know Mitch is going to make this happen and still keep Clarkson, Russell, and Randle intact.

Can't restructure contracts in the NBA

Small forwards typically range from 6'6 to 6'9. Kobe is small for the position in height and weight, with ever decreasing hops.

Wish they could restructure though. With the boom in cap space coming, they could tag on a season or two for Kobe and stretch that salary out a little.

Whether or no we strike out in free agency, this season will be a great step forward in the rebuilding process. From what it looks like, Clarkson and Russell will be the back court of the future and Randle is still a promising forward.

I'm still glad we went with Russell over Okafor in the draft.

Agreed. I have no problem watching this team rebuild and grow organically. I just hope they don't make any panic moves, such as trade all the youth for Cousins, if they don't land the big fish this summer.
