Kyle hasn't qualified yet. He still has a pretty good gap to close to get in the top 30 in points. the 41st and 43rd place finishes he's had since his return really hurt his chances.

Johnson had no reason to pit with 4 wins on the season all year. Strategy didn't work out, but if I'm in Johnson's shoes, I'm staying out too knowing there's gonna be some guys in the back staying out to hold the other guys up.

Exactly. JJ knew that if he pitted, the other cars were definitely going to be better than him. His only hope was for the fast cars to struggle getting back to the front.
