This week, the stock car boys are in the land of fruits and nuts, California for the Toyota Save-Mart 350. Kasey Kahne is a father and Jr is in engaged. One of the road courses on the circuit, Sonoma can be pretty interesting to watch people get punted and wrecked for general purposes. We shall see how this plays out.

This will be Larry McReynolds' last broadcast in the booth with his partners for the last 15 years, Darrell Waltrip and Mike Joy. Jeffy Gordon takes McReynolds' spot next year when he retires from driving. Here's the link.

That is gonna be the worst tradeoff in broadcast television history. Here's to watching Fox' portion of next season with the TV on mute and listening to the radio broadcast.

I can't handle Jeff Gordon's whiny voice. I can tolerate DW, but DW and Gordon in the same booth? With Michael Waltrip being a part of it too?

Lots of yappin'. When you put the Waltrip brothers together they try to out-talk each other. That is why they moved Mikey down to the Hollowood Hotel with whatshisface. If you have ever listened to the call of a truck race, Mikey Waltrip is insufferable. He seldom shuts up. Add Gordon to the mix and it'll be like a girl's night out with alcohol.

Said is in. It spent a lot of time in the back of the pack.

Said starts 33rd. Allmendinger takes the pole and Kurt Busch is second. People who like this track are up front.

I was afraid Said wouldn't get much car behind him. The regular cup guys have picked up their skills at the road racing places over the past 15 years.

I'm guessing it has to do with all the simulators that run on laser scanned tracks. They learn the tracks before they go now, makes a huge difference.

But not too good for any would be road coarse ringers.

Big crowd today. NASCAR must be doing something right, they've drawn big crowds to the races it hasn't rained.

Busch has a great start and gets the better of Allmendinger. Single file.
