Iowa did get crushed by Texas and if Iowa had only that one loss to Texas as a top 50 RPI game and went 25-5 but lost their conference tourney then Iowa wouldnt be deserving of a bid either. You can argue against Indiana being in, thats fine but in no way is Murray State the next team up for inclusion IF the Hoosiers are left out
fair enough...they can play each other in the nit and settle it once and for all :heh:

On a side note I was really hoping that they'd get the all big ten team selection right. Almost nailed it, I love Yogi but DJ Newbill should have been on the first team. Otherwise the other 4 guys were no brainers.

3. This year sucks ass. Pretty much every team outside of the top 8 or so would get absolutely pasted regularly as soon as two years ago to any decent team. So I say fuck it...let Murray state in that Payne kid is fun and I could care less to see some crap team like Miami make.

Agree 100%. This tournament looks like it could be the most boring of all time. Let's have some fun and put some teams in there just to see what happens.

I'm fine with putting mid major teams in instead of middle tier majors. Old Dominion, Buffalo, loser of Green Bay/Valpo, loser of Harvard/Yale all have better resumes than Murray State.

1. Where did this little tangent come from lol.

2. Bold. If the Big East isn't a major conference the BIG10 is really the only one.

It's top heavy this year. The ACC & B1G are down. But the Big East and Big 12 are up.

The past couple of years have been even worse though. Having UConn win with two mediocre teams was just bad to watch.

The bubble teams have ALWAYS been mediocre though.

I agree Newbill should be there. I'm glad White was recognized for what he brings. I was thinking he'd be put on the 2nd team (At least by the media).

Fucking auto correct.. the Terms?? Lol. I'll just write Maryland from now on.

I was trying to figure out what derogatory meaning "the Terms" could possibly have

Assuming I get over this cold, I'll be there for Session 4 on Friday and (crosses fingers) the Finals on Sunday.

is Maryland any good or is it a very very down year for the Big 10?

I know they have a nice win versus Iowa State on a neutral court, the blowout loss to UVA at home was expected, AND that Melo Trimble was a nice addition.

But, this team totally sucked for the last 5 years or so in the ACC...and frankly havent really been good since 2002, other than a brief blip when Greivous Vazquez almost singlehandedly kept the program from collapse.

I believe it a combination of both things. The Big 10 is having a very off year AND Maryland finally found a group of players that seem to enjoy being in CPK.

Yeh, MD is good, but 2 or 3 seed good? Trimble was expected to be a talent, he's exceeded all expectations. Wells is completely healthy and willing this team to win. And MD has some other nice parts like Nickens and Pack that can make key plays. But if MD wants to make tourney noise, Layman needs to shore up a very average inside game, particularly on the boards. Graham, Cekovsky, Dodd and Smotrycz aren't going to dominate inside.
As far as MD's 'down years' since 2002 (actually since 2003 Blake's final year) keep in mind that Gary Williams refused to work with the AAU (Curtis Malone et. al.), and who could blame him after winning it all in 02 with no MCDAAs? So he coached up a lot of average talent. Turgeon started with a bare cupboard, didn't have enough time or surrounding talent to make Len a superstar, and struggled with discontent and possible head cases last year. He's finally got kids that have completely bought in. Solid D, great guard play, good FT%, and legit 3pt threats could carry them to Sweet 16 or beyond, but a weak inside game and tendency to play down to competition could get them booted in the 2nd round.

I find it amazing that the two most inconsistent schools in college basketball both reside in the state of Iowa (ISU as well)

Penn State might make NIT now if they beat Purdue.

I think ISU is far more consistent. They have had some post season success under Hoiberg and good years.

Big loss for Iowa, that's going to drop them a line. Looks like they will be in the 8/9 range come Sunday.

props to newbill for solid performance and coaching. during their last timeout he told his coach to take out Dickerson and put in travis. travis gets the and 1 and play of the game. Dickerson is awful. penn st coach needs to get his head out of his ass

That's a good fucking half of basketball against an inferior opponent. It's about time.
