Posted 3 rounds so far for '16 including 36 holes last weekend and all under 90!

Looking for sub 80 this year at some point.

I'm getting back to being golf crazy again this year. After missing the season before last and dealing with tennis elbow this past year, I haven't been back to where I want to be. I did shoot 35 in one league round but didn't consistently break 40.

Then, last year I used my buddy's graphite shafted Titleist AP1s mid year 'cause he upgraded and holy shit....everything was flying straight and long. I had never used graphite shafted irons. I struggled with overshooting greens but I hit them so consistently. That got me excited again but the bitch was that he left the PW on a course that we called a few times...nobody turned it in. The gap between wedge and 9 iron was a real struggle. I recently found the exact replacement on ebay so that's all set. Bought a Nike Covert VRS Driver (my son left our last one that we both killed at his school and it got stolen) and then picked up a matching 5 wood for the two log par 3s on my home course. Re-worked a cool old Bullseye putter that was badly gouged. I was able to fit it to my shop mill and mill a new face on it. Re-gripped the entire set with dual cord grips. Just won a bid on a nice new cart bag so it looks like possibly adding a three wood at some point is all I have left.

2016!

...looks like I'm back to square one on the 5 wood.

First time getting stood up on ebay. 130 purchases the past 10 years and finally, it looks like some prick hasn't shipped the club. No communication. It was only 22 bucks and ebay will cover it but I have to wait a week......guess it was only a matter of time.

if you can't get that particular 5 wood, I recommend an Adams Tight Lie. Amazing distance and it is designed to get a solid hit out of the rough

I've got 3 '16 rds under my belt so far with another planned for Sat...65 frikin degs baby!!!

Playing more with some new gents (I'll call them that for now) this yr so I'm practicing more so I can make a decent showing...a few boys have some nice game.

Going back and forth...2H that I have vs 3H, but maybe I should consider a 5 or 7w. Heard great things about Adams, and it must be true because everytime I go in there looking...Adams rack is bare except the brand new stuff...and I never buy the brand new stuff.

Got out for 9 holes today. Muddy with frost still underneath so forget about chipping or putting....though I did make my first birdie of '16 on a short par three.

Phil and I both hit the ball very well. I hit a perfect hook around a short par 4 dogleg with that new 5 wood and I crushed the Covert driver a couple of times.

Felt great!

Ruined one of my better GIR days for sure...old course with classic back to front tilting greens and severe on many holes...pin high or above the pin is not the place to putt from.

As a 1st timer on that track, I learned the hard way....30' below is way better than pin high or 5' above the pin.

Tee times at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Playing at Carolina Trace in Sanford. Long track, bermuda grass and two playing partners who are very low handicappers and will kick my ass unless I slice some achilles tenxons on these guys.

Should be fun!

Some good news...some bad.

42-46...so I'm 5 for 5 breaking 90 in '16...won't bore you with the b by b, but beautiful day to play in FEB, mid 50s...shortish par 72...6159/68.8/125...in the rota...long game was pretty good actually...in play on all 14 driving holes, 6 FWs, some chunky iron shots, but enough good ones to hit 8 GIR, putting and short game were bad...3, 3jacks, and 38 overall. zero birdies, but 6 pars

Par 5s saved the round...4 of the 6 pars were on par 5s.

Going to the putting and chipping green today.
