with just a few minutes left, goes into 'bama mode.
I agree I like the concept, but I think it should be 4th and 20. I think 4th and 15 is too high a %....I saw a highlight of the 4th and 15 play that was run in place of an onsides kick. I wish that rule were adopted by the NFL. How excited would you be to watch a 4th and 15 play late in a game? It would be so much better than the less than 3% shot teams have on a modern onsides kick.
What's the drawback if you don't complete the 4th and 15? I honestly don't know.I saw a highlight of the 4th and 15 play that was run in place of an onsides kick. What I mean is - if you go for it and fail - you get it where the ball is marked short of the 1st down marker?I think the ball is on your own 20.... So, if you make it, you're still only at your own 35ish.... And still have to go quite a way to tie or win the game (assuming it's a close game and that's why you did it). If you miss, the other team is basically near the redzone.
There is no way any coach would just randomly go for it. It would only occur in late game situations.
Yes, that's the way I think it should go. It wouldn't be a play anyone would use unless it was a final minutes situation... IMO.What I mean is - if you go for it and fail - you get it where the ball is marked short of the 1st down marker?
So, if a team goes for the 4th and 15, and get nothing - the other team gets the ball on the 20, already in FG range, and in the redzone?
