It's still hard for me to believe that McCarron couldn't have an Andy Dalton type career. I mean, I get that he didn't have elite talent but he could definitely do some things.

the drop from Andy Dalton to AJ McCarron wasn't that big of a drop.

I felt like he made a mistake trying to leave here to get more money, he was a decent backup QB, and he'd be a fine backup to many qbs. Would be interesting to see if he could win the TB starting job post-Brady. they probably draft a replacement though.

watch for: 3 point conversion, extremely lucky, or extremely skillful.
td pass to proehl to take the lead. not as good as that, but still decent. receiver ran a decent route and defense was in zone, 3 defenders converge on the receiver.
and a conversion on 4th down and 15 I think

I saw a highlight of the 4th and 15 play that was run in place of an onsides kick. I wish that rule were adopted by the NFL. How excited would you be to watch a 4th and 15 play late in a game? It would be so much better than the less than 3% shot teams have on a modern onsides kick.

I agree I like the concept, but I think it should be 4th and 20. I think 4th and 15 is too high a %....

What's the drawback if you don't complete the 4th and 15? I honestly don't know.

If it's something like they other team gets the ball at the 40 (basically FG range) - I might be OK with 4th and 15...needs to be some kind of drawback that makes it not a no-brainer to basically go for the 4th and 15 a ton....

I think the ball is on your own 20.... So, if you make it, you're still only at your own 35ish.... And still have to go quite a way to tie or win the game (assuming it's a close game and that's why you did it). If you miss, the other team is basically near the redzone.

There is no way any coach would just randomly go for it. It would only occur in late game situations.

What I mean is - if you go for it and fail - you get it where the ball is marked short of the 1st down marker?

So, if a team goes for the 4th and 15, and get nothing - the other team gets the ball on the 20, already in FG range, and in the redzone?

Yes, that's the way I think it should go. It wouldn't be a play anyone would use unless it was a final minutes situation... IMO.
