Sock loses to Groth. Groth has the biggest serve out there, but Sock needs to be beating these types of guys.

red clay is his best surface, with hard court right behind. he needs the ball to sit up to get underneath the ball for that wicked topspin of his.

grass, with its low bounce, will be his worst until he learns how to return a lot better, no matter who the server is.

disappointing loss for sure, though.

Bouchard out. Woz about to lose the first set. Looks like the back is not healed up yet. Looks like the tin man out there.

Yup, just as I typed that her opponent completely caved and lost every game and the match after being up 2 breaks in the first.

I also realized yesterday that I overlooked an Isner vs. Cilic 3rd round clash.

Very unlikely Isner gets through Cilic, adding to the improbability of him facing Djokovic.

Yeah, I made that pick of Isner vs. Djokovic for fun, but had I know he also would have gone through Cilic before, I wouldn't have been so bold in picking him to beat Djokovic. I don't like doing 2 improbable picks.

I'm very disappointed in Kokkinakis. At just 19, he's the youngest player in the top 100, and he's going to contend for big titles for a lot of years.

Still, this was his first Wimbledon match ever, so it's a big learning experience for the kid.

Both Chung and Coric are younger. They had deep fifth sets. Coric won 9-7 and Chung lost 10-8. Out of that generation, I would put Thanasi behind both of those guys, Kyrigios, and Rublev.

I think Thanasi relies more on his physicality and strength, which are already up to professional level. His weakness is movement, which is one of the toughest areas to improve. It's why I feel like most of the guys who are rising to new levels in their late 20s and early 30s are very good movers who spent their 20s working on their strokes.

Bouchard is 8-13 this season....that is incredibly bad.

Half of her single wins came in January at the Aussie Open.

Since the Aussie Open she won more than one match in a tournament ONCE and she has been eliminated in her first match of a tournament 8 times

Haas-Raonic tomorrow could be good, or a blowout for Raonic.

Other than that, nothing jumps out at me.

she said she has a grade 2 abdominal strain

however, besides being able to take the ball absurdly early, she has limited gifts. she's not a great mover, server, and she has zero weapons off the ground

still, if not for the ab strain, she probably wouldn't be going out so early so often

Haas is a Grass specialist so anything is possible, especially if Raonic has a down serving day.

Of course if it more than on then dont expect it to be that close.

Haas played well on hard courts too, early in the 2000s.

Don't know if he's still good on them now.

I think it is a good think, don't you think so, bksballer? It shows it is more competitive than the men.
