This is a close one IMO.

I think in last 35 years, Miami is far more storied, but does the other 100 years bring Texas past Miami's last 35 years?

Is a tough pick.

The contest is 'most storied'. Miami has written a big story in recent times, mainly during a mid-eighties to early 2000s. But nothing before that.

Texas story was more regional for many years, then strong in 60s to 80s, then 2000s up to the end of decade.

Went with Texas just bc in the grand scheme of things, Miami's story is just a little short for me.

Did Football start in 1980?

Miami (FL) has had some nice runs in the 1980s and again in the early 2000s.

But, they dont have much of a "storied program"

They are just too late to the game. And its not like they have been completely dominant since 1980..
They do have some gaps even in the modern era.

Texas is not perfect. Texas is also in another doldrum period the last 4 years.

But, overall Texas is far more "storied".

But that doesn't take away from being storied. Actually, it kind of makes it more storied.

Well being a storied program poll, Miami (FL) is a Johnny come lately then went bye bye. They had a great 25 year stretch from Howard (1979) to Coker (2006) but that's about it. My vote is for Texas.

Statistically, Texas is a better team. Texas's history spreads over 100 years. Miami's success literally begins in the 1980s.

But Miami was so storied, mostly notoriously, they dominated the NFL Draft, got a bunch of rules changed (mostly celebrating/taunting), and easily became CFB's most hated program in the nation.

Texas had more success, everyone knows that. What makes them more "storied"? I am close to switching votes.

I remember when scheduling Miami was like scheduling Florida Atlantic, or Florida International is today. I remember them coming to Austin to play Texas, it was like 'Who's this Miami team?"

That wasnt that long ago. Their rise was meteoric, and unprecedented, really. They took college football by storm, created big news and a lot of big wins.

But storied to me, makes me think of Knute Rockne, Notre Dame, Bud Wilkinson, USC, etc. Texas has over 100 years of football and almost 900 wins.

For these polls you're doing, how is storied being defined?

I'll use boxing to make my point. Ali vs Marciano, who is more storied.

Many can argue Marciano had a more successful career, but Ali was far more storied. Ali was cocky, dodged the draft, show-boated, and basically made far more headlines because he acted the way he did. Marciano made headlines because he won.

It doesn't necessarily mean more successful (although it could), but ones that would make more headlines for any reason. Revolutionary coaches/players, success, being cocky, change the way games is played, and/or notorious reasons.

Basically, who has had the more entertaining program.

Ohhhh okay I gotcha now. Not based purely on success. That helps a lot in my decisions thank you.

When I think of storied, I think of history, tradition, total # of wins, conference titles, NC's, etc. Miami has Texas beat in only 1 category. They have 1 more NC than Texas. Other than that, Texas is easily the most storied program. Miami doesn't even have enough fans to vote on a message board.
