I am going to try something. It's an offseason thread. I took the top 24 from Bleacher Report's Top 50 CFB Programs of All Time and put it into a bracket. The top 8 on the list have 1st round byes.

There is 21 weeks until season opener and I have 24 games (I have the loser of semifinals going for 3rd). I'll do 2 of the first round games each week, then do a game a week after that. We'll see how it goes.

Poll is open for 1 week and you will be able to change your answers.

Here is what the bracket looks like (If the image is x'd out, then I uploaded a pic of it).

This is a tough one.

Both teams have the same post-season record: 17-17-1.
UCLA has 17 conference titles and Washington has 15.
Washington claimed 2 NC and UCLA has claimed 1.
UCLA has the only Heisman between the two teams (Gary Beban 1967).
Washington is 7-6-1 and UCLA is 5-7 at Rose Bowl.
UCLA wins head-to-head with 39-31-2 vs Washington.

It is a tough one, but I will switch to UCLA.

Went with Washington. Storied football teams don't wear powder blue.

UCLA I remember UCLA games back in the 1960s and 1970s and how UCLA and USC would always be battling.

I don't remember much about Washington until the 1980s.

This is really tough; their records and stats listed by Jerms proves this point.

Went with Ucla, only because I saw them more growing up. Not many Washington games ever way down here in Texas, while Ucla was on regularly.

Oregon does not belong in this bracket, but based on last game results UO is 10-3 against the field.

If you are going to go on the way back, it has to be UW
Second longest winning streak in college football history at 39 in a row (1908-19-14)
Longest streak without a loss in NCAA history with 63 straight (59-0-4) from 1901 - 1917. Yes, that's right. An entire decade without losing a football game.

I just got thinking, "What if there is a tie?"

Any suggestions on a tie breaker that we all could see?

I thought about a site like this: Just Flip A Coin

but not everyone will be able to see the result.

You sold me on picking Washington. That and the fact they have more claimed NC and Rose Bowl victories wins it for me. That is if someone can bring up something about UCLA to change my mind again.

The facts took my vote to UW. Over the decades, UTK has scheduled home & aways with UCLA (Vols, 7-6-2). There is no history between UW & UTK.

Tin Man's post just makes me want to kick myself- I should've gone with facts, rather than 'remembrances' and personal viewing. In my years, I've seen Ucla quite a bit, and there's a good size following of exes in my area, thus that factored in my vote.

That being said, it's a close call either way. Tough choice for me.
