I don't understand the whole Bradford to Cleveland for a first idea.
If you are the Rams would you rather have Foles and a 2nd or Cleveland's 1st?
I understand the Rams wanted a QB in the trade and maybe they didn't like any that Cleveland and that was the speed bump between the Rams and Browns.

I tell you this, I am very interested to see how this whole thing works out. I'm hoping for a complete failure but I honestly don't know how this story ends.

Might just be the greatest suspense book of 2015. Hopefully for you all it's a Steven King story.

I would hope this to be the case. But, if it is, then what is the end game? To get a team to trade up to #2 to take Mariota so that Chip can trade up into the top 5 to take.... ???

But isn't MM already thought to be a top 5 player? So, what does it matter if MM gets drafted in the top 5 and the Eagles don't move up? If MM gets picked and the Eagles still have their original 1st, then everybody is going to assume that a team could move up in front of them to take a WR or a DB.


In other words, the deception will be lost. Mariota will be off the board, so other teams won't think that the Eagles could trade up to take him.

As of today I agree that our defense is slightly better than last season. However, if we lose both Kendricks and Cox via trade, we will be worse IMO on defense than last season. Both Ryans and Kiko are both recovering from major injuries. Who's going to fill the void for Cox? Not easy shoes to fill. What draft picks will we have left? Mid-late rounders?

Totally agree. It's going to take more than Mariotta to win a Super Bowl. There is no way in hell I give up Cox. We're not just going to get another guy and be fine. No way!

Chip went and got Kiko Alonso giving himself a trade chip.... Chip used a 2nd rd pick and Foles to give himself another major trade chip.... the first rd pick your trading doesn't count because your getting a first rd pick in return, a very high one. So essentially the cost to move up is Fletcher Cox. I can live with that. For the chance to draft Chip Kellys version of Andrew Luck, absolutely.

I can't. Kellys version of Luck still isn't Andrew Luck. I will be furious if we give up Fletcher Cox. We will get run on plenty if that happens.

I still do not think we are getting Mariotta. We're not the only team that wants him and Chip has already said he isn't trading the farm which is what it will take to move up that high. I would definitely be excited to have MM but I am not giving up Cox, Kendricks, and picks to get him.

I don't think Boykin has anywhere near enough value to get Jordan and move up to 14. I don't see him being worth anymore than a 4th round pick. How about this:
#20, Boykin, and Curry for #14, Jordan, and Miami's 4th. Bradford to Cle for #19. Then #14, #19, our 2017 first, and Kendricks for #2. Losing Kendricks would suck but we have a replacement already here in Alonso. We'd still get to keep Cox and the only draft pick we lose is the 2017 first.

I love Mariota and think he'd be the perfect fit here ... the biggest issue I have however would be trading Fletcher Cox. The kid doesn't even turn 25 till mid December and is heading into his prime years already having shown Pro Bowl potential. If we land the Cleveland pick for Bradford and offer 19/20 and Cox ... I don't see how the Titans could turn it down. The Jets are much closer than we are at 6, but they don't have a stud like Cox to put in the deal and it's just the one first rounder this year while we'd be offering 2. Tennessee can still land their receiver at 19 or 20 and still have another pick right after it to play with. Cleveland I think wants a ready to go pocket QB and they would like to keep that 2nd first rounder to get a top notch receiver. If they trade up for Mariota they likely have to add their 2nd rounder on top of the two firsts to get it done, thus missing out on the receivers.

The biggest obstacle I see would be San Diego who may be dangling Rivers ... but it's sounding like that was all more smoke than fire. The Titans however aren't even close to competing ... I could see Rivers making more sense if they were an 8-8 type team, but they won all of 2 games last season.

I'll give chip the benefit of the doubt. His track record speaks for itself. However, I'll be tuned in closely to the draft Thursday. I'm debating whether I'll be relaxed with beer or if I'm a nervous wreck like I am now, it may be a night of the crown royal. I'm going to flip the fuck out if Chip gives up what little pieces we have on defense who are actually very good for a prospect.

I'd sit back and let a team select MM first before trading assets and picks for MM. Chip can try and make a trade for MM after the draft and chances are it would cost us less IMO.
