Apparently Hamilton's deal is under $6 mil AAV.

Not quite the $7.5 million some Boston fans were adamant he was demanding...

Dammit. I really want an explanation from Jarmo on why he missed this chance. He had more to offer Boston, and more than enough cap space to give him his rumoured demands. Now to find he accepted a bit less? Never heard any discussion that the Jackets even offered anything.

Big miss.

Congrats, dash.

My guess is the cap. Jenner, Murray, Savard, Connauton all RFA next summer, RyJo the summer after, gonna have to replace at least 3 forwards and at least 2 defencemen. Even if they were hoping to get Hamilton signed at $6 mil even that doesn't leave much cap space without figuring a way to dump at least 2 of Dubinsky, Clarkson, Hartnell or Johnson which just leaves more holes to fill.

I'm glad it's not 8 years, I was hoping for 5 or 6 years, so this is very good.

Edit: If my math is correct, that's an AAV of 5.75 million. Nicely done Brad.

Yeah eventually CBJ will be a cap team and they have some contracts that might not be bad now but can be in the next few years

With the way trades work, when the time is right they'll make a big splash for someone like that

Very well done. If my maths are good, that leaves the Flames about $40 million for next summer (although with some big RFA's and two really big UFA's).

Yeah, I'm still not understanding what the end-game is here for Boston but they do have two first rounders now next season so maybe those are being moved for offensive help? That or they keep dumping assets and are looking more toward a 2-3 year rebuild.

Either way, at least one Atlantic Division team is making trades...

Hey!! We traded Gryba!!

BOS offer to Hamilton was $5.5 AAV. New contract in CAL will be approx $5.75. Safe to say player wanted a fresh start and Flames are it.
