Headed out w/my private guide for 7 day cruise from Luxor to Aswan & back. We had our funny moments along the way.
The river hawkers would row out, try to throw a line to the ship & hook on. Then they'd scream at the people trying to get them to buy the same cheap souvenirs hawked everywhere. On one hilarious confrontation, the crew was screaming back at them, finally a crew member crawled out onto the side with a knife & cut the rope. More screaming back & forth.
They were so busy screaming at the crew member, they almost got run over by the ship behind us. Then more of them showed up & the ships started zigzagging like it was WWII & a sub was after them.
We had to pass through several locks on our way to the Aswan dam which was fun to watch. Two of the ships would be in the lock at the same time.
Sadly, a major sandstorm was kicking up in Egypt right then, so we didn't get to see much of the damn. But visited several other temples on my way south.
Cruise ship
As we left Luxor, a lot of green belt along the Nile. As we moved further south, the green belt became smaller & smaller.
Homes & small farms along the way.
Our river hawkers nearly run down by the ship behind us. The ships run up & down the coast as a group.
Going through the first lock on our way to Aswan
Our housekeeping staff kept everyone entertained by creating towel creatures each night during turndown service. I was visited by Anubis, an elephant, a swan, a screaming monkey (okay, that scared the crap out of everyone because it was hanging just inside as you opened the door), a Pharaoh & this scorpion.
