Was surprised at the SFs. Ruud beat Djokovic.

Tsitsipas beat Sinner.

Tsitsipas won in the Finals, winning his 3rd Monte Carlo. Nastase, Borg, Muster, and Tsitsipas have 3 each.

Nadal has 11, including 8 in a row.

Congrats to Tsitsipas. He's back in the top 10.

This tourney always reminds me of how hard it is to see the ball on clay. One time, the Madrid Masters used blue clay. It was so much easier to see the ball.

But too many players complained, so they went back to their normal clay.

Federer had won that year on blue clay.

There's a reason why I think the Australian Open blue color scheme makes it the easiest to see the ball.

Tsitsipas mom, Julia Salnikova (then her name), won the junior Monte Carlo Masters in 1981.

Very cool that mother-son won the same title.

Monte Carlo doesn't do the WTA, their last year was in 1982. They claim they don't have the space to host both men and women.

They claim they can't do it another week, because of F1 racing. And they say they tried the WTA only in summer, and people didn't go because that's vacation time.

I think they should try and find a solution. I believe it's the only Masters that's not both ATP and WTA

Not even watching clay tennis any more. Will watch the rest here and there.

Have barely heard from you in the past year.

Did you watch a little bit of the French Open in years past?

Way back when. Its been a long time. At this point it would just be Semis and finals if any

I think that is reasonable. At least you're considering the most important matches.

Why have you been quiet in the past year? How are things?

Fine thanks. Just not playing much tennis any more. Certainly not seriously. Years caught up to me. Body has just about crapped out. Hard to get excited about it. I enjoyed the Aussie but I dont think I made it through an entire match. I usually watch the end of matches now. The majors need to cut back the mens matches. Most tennis fans dont want to watch 5 hours + of a tennis match, especially when it is not the finals. I dont think it is good for the sport either. New fans like to see action but to a point. I think that is why pickleball is getting more popular. Matches end quickly. Might be time for no add scoring. Receiver chooses final side to serve for last point.
