Gus here is growing fast and one of the smartest pups I've had the privilege of owning. He's learning quick and very good natured. Going to be lots of fun to hunt with for years, I hope.

What kind of water will you hunt him over? I'd love a waterfowl dog to jump shoot our small rivers with. We don't get huge flights of ducks but rather pockets here and there and when they scatter, they're gone.

We hunt lakes, creeks, ponds, rivers and even some marsh land around some type 2 public hunting areas here in East Texas. There is lots of country to hunt in this area and as long as you get there early enough, you usually don't have company. I've got some sweet spots on a few lakes, as well as plenty of spots on private land that we've hunted, over the years. Probably not this year but definitely next, I want to make it down to Katy, Tx to hunt some of the goose fields. Lots of the waterfowl here often roost close, but also there many flyways where birds pass through day after day, so scattering them doesn't pose as much of an issue.

Adorable. Where did you him from? We have a good number of lab breeders in my area. We are huge duck hunting region but the papered labs are really expensive.

Whether the price of the puppy is $400 or $1400, it's all small change compared to how much the little shits cost us in their lifetime.

...btw, my little 8 month old angel had a first today. I set my sandwich down on the edge of the coffee table for a second....the bastard! I jumped him and got it out of his mouth at least. Then he did bad dog time in a his crate.

Lots of dove hunting. Texas is great for hunting lots of different wildlife. I enjoy the dove, quail, pheasant, and turkey as much as any of the other. Ive killed many deer over the years and will enjoy teaching my 5 years old about game management , but I won't kill many more deer in my lifetime. It's just not at the top of my list anymore.

Lots of dove hunting. Texas is great for hunting lots of different wildlife. I enjoy the dove, quail, pheasant, and turkey as much as any of the other. Thanks, the vet was wonderful and thorough. We have a stool sample being tested but he's old and she thinks it's inflammed colon stuff but not fatal. Got a shot of pepcid and then some oral anti-boitics. He didn't have any stomach pain and is otherwise active and hungry. We'll watch him for a couple of days and hope for the best.

Yeah there are wild birds in the panhandle and I have a buddy with a place in Amarillo where we get into quite a few most years. Doesn't happen much south of there though, to my knowledge.

I have some farm land by Sunray and we are seeing pretty good numbers of Pheasants. The Quail hunting should be awesome this year.

Cool. California used to have a really good wild pheasant numbers but changes in farming practices has nearly wiped them out in most places
