What is the correlation to TV ratings?

My guess is minimal.

Between the steroid scandal, lockouts/strikes and the pace of play I think most people have genuinely lost interest in baseball.
Depends on the market. Baseball is just as popular as ever in Philadelphia. I’m sure what you speak of is happening nationally but not in this market. The local TV deal for Phillies baseball is the most lucrative contract for all of the major sports in our market. The Phillies through the week out draw everything in local ratings.

Def depends on market. So much of it is dependent on team success. But I'd guess he's largely referring to the ever diminishing playoff ratings

So many of the games are played on weekday afternoons. It’s almost like it’s self sabotage.

Sure the same can be said for Yankees baseball

Yea this week was a perfect example. What is the point of getaway day games if teams are off the following day? I think Wednesday had all day game games except 2 or 3 while 20 teams had off yesterday

Agreed. Stakes was talking playoff viewership and I was talking about 12:30-1:30 first pitches on a Tuesday is a big let down for the real baseball fan. You’ve probably watched or followed 130+ of your team’s 162 games and you’re rewarded with having to move mountains and fuck around with work to catch one of the most important games of the year? That’s so gay.

It doesn't seem so long ago that the Cubs played their home games in the afternoon. Then again, it probably was pretty long ago and I'm just getting old. I grew up hating the Cubs and Braves because WGN and Turner had their games on constantly on basic cable, but at least those games were there to watch. Now I just get Yankees and Mets, which I already hated lol (and they were on as well on basic cable). I did like the Strawberry/Gooden years with the Mets I guess...

I judge based on kids in my area.

They get excited about NFL, NBA, and even Euroleague soccer.

Very few baseball fans around here.

Unfortunately now days kids are never exposed to a neighborhood baseball game. Far too many other distractions now.

He should have gone to jail for stealing money from the Sixers.

the dude got hurt

It happens

Does embiid steal money every single year?

Besides, you should thank him for getting hurt, no embiid if he doesn’t get hurt

No process

No offense but every major sports team in your area has been garbage for quite some time with a blip from the Nationals and the Capitals. They’ve been mostly listless dog shit. No group of sports fans in the world are going to show up and pay attention to people just rolling the ball out and mismanaging things like the Redskins National and Bullets have done. Thank God the Capitals lucked into Ovechkin or they would be a mess as well.

And it’s a real shame. Those ball fields kept a lot of kids from going the wrong way.
Didn't make any corporations any money to have kids outside having fun for free. Had to be stopped.

He suffered a career ending injury…bowling

Do you know the impossible odds of that happening?

This isn’t Aaron Boone playing pickup basketball when he wasn’t supposed to

It was bowling

And again, you act like he left and played for someone else

It was a good deal by the sixers that got sunk by impossibly bad luck

A healthy Bynum and jrue would’ve been a great starting point
