Not nearly as good but still solid. This year they return s much so they are fine there.

Gonna miss his coaching. If they hire oltzenberger they will be fine recruiting. Fred didn't do much recruiting. His assistant did most and he would take the lazy route and go for transfers at all costs.

NBA is his kind of job, we've always known that.

Yeah, I think they'll still be a solid team.

They'll still be a very good team this year. Lots of returning starters, Niang, Morris, McKay, and Long. A few incoming transfers too. But after this year, even if Holberg was coming back the cupboard is pretty bare for 2016 and beyond. Obviously a whole lot can change there especially considering their transfer model, but a new coach and a cleaned out roster at a school like ISU after this year could set them up to fall back to earth

Hoiberg was a special coach. In the 5 years before he got Iowa State was 24-56 in Big 12 play. In his last 4 years Iowa State was 46-26 in Big 12 play, making 4 NCAA Tournaments, and turned Iowa State into a top 15 program over that time IMO. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest there will be a decline with him gone. I don't think it will happen this year as the talent is there for an E8 type of run, but after this year, it will be interesting to see how the program proceeds. This is a huge hire for the administration.

I think they'll be decent until all his recruits leave and then they'll drop off.

I think they will be alright. The base is optimistic and the guy has been successful at a smaller program.

Like I told one of my coworkers after he was hired-gotta be better than Ford.
