That three teams that were former members of the old Southwest Conference (Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech) all made the College World Series & all ended up on the same side of the bracket?
No more than having both PAC teams being in the same bracket. Or both Big 12 teams being in the same bracket.
Yeah, but how many teams from a defunct conference make it in one year? That was my main point. Being in the same bracket was just a bonus bit of irony.
How many "defunct" P5 conferences are there?
SWC
Big East
The Big East is still alive & well, but they returned to their roots & are no longer a football conference.
The Big 8 is no longer around, but 6 of its former members are still together in the Big 12. About the only other defunct major conferences that fielded football teams that I can recall are the Border & Skyline Conferences. There were others - like the Metro - that were non-FB leagues, but I am not going to try to list them.
The Trump Doctrine is, "America is my Bitch, Bitch."
3 former members of the Border and Skyline Conferences are now members of the Pac12. No wonder nobody takes them seriously.
Great post
