Also....

Mets RHP Marcus Stroman threw a bullpen and felt “really good,” manager Luis Rojas said. ”Everything was on point." The right-hander plans to take his next scheduled turn Sunday or Monday. He left Tuesday’s outing early with a sore hip. ...

Between games, 3B Jonathan Villar (calf) was placed on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Tuesday, with a strained right calf.

INF Travis Blankenhorn was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.

OF Brandon Nimmo (left index finger) is expected back next week, Rojas said.

Up next..

Mets ace Jacob deGrom (7-2, 0.50 ERA) is scheduled to pitch Saturday against Zach Eflin (2-6, 4.39).

Game is tied 1-1 in the 6th.
Jake not getting any run support....big surprise....smh.

Now he's given up a leadoff double, a walk & a HBP...to load the bases.

He's treading water here....and pushing 80 pitches.

He got 1 out on a short pop fly....got the 2nd out on a sac fly...but a run scored......and gets a ground out to end it.

His ERA shot up to 0.70....and is now at 88 pitches.

Also....I don't want to see Almora get too many of these starts in CF unless he's an absolute last resort....he's also a liability at the plate.

2-1 Phils....mid 6th.

BOOM!

Kevin Pillar ties the game with a 1 out PH blast.

2-2 in the 7th.

Guillorme singles...and took 2nd on Lindor's groundout.

Need Conforto to clutch up here....

Edit:
Baaaah...he whiffed.

2-2 heading to the 8th.

Not sure I'm in agreement here with Rojas' decision to go with Edwin Diaz instead of sticking with Seth Lugo for the 9th...or for at least part of it.

edit:
And here we go again...HBP...and stolen base....no outs.

Now a wild pitch..and walk.

1st & 3rd.....no outs.

It's these little things which back us into a corner that bugs the hell out of me...and it's usually avoidable more times than not.

Sheeesh. This one got ugly quick.
Mets putting on a pathetic display all around. Pitching, hitting and defense have sucked.
Phils already lead 4-0 and it’s only the 4th. Stroman struggled just to get thru 3...and now Oswalt is in.
Still have a long way to go but now the Mets are back on their heels and need to play catch-up....and the pen is getting even more work than they should be.

The trend for this one was set in the 1st 3 innings....and the Mets still haven't recovered or responded.

Phils lead 4-0....heading to the 7th.

Also...still no word on why Dom wasn't in the lineup today.
Conforto batting cleanup is just not a good look.

Mets finally get on the board in the 8th.
Alonso's rbi single scores Lindor.
Pete is 3 for 4 today...Lindor is 2 for 4. Everyone else....meh

4-1 (at least they avoid the shutout)

Onto the 9th.

Edit:
Drew Smith tossed 2 scoreless innings for NY....so that's another positive takeaway today.

Mets lose 4-2.

Trainer's room.

Mets 3B/OF J.D. Davis (left hand) is expected to begin a rehab stint Monday with Triple-A Syracuse. Manager Luis Rojas said several other injured Mets should play this week for Syracuse, including IF Jonathan Villar (right calf), C Tomas Nido (right wrist) and RHP Jeurys Familia (right hip). Familia threw a bullpen on Sunday.

Up next.

Mets RHP Jerad Eickhoff (0-0, 0.00) makes his second start for New York against the Nationals. It'll be in Washington on Monday for a makeup of one of the games postponed in April by the Nationals' COVID-19 outbreak. Then the Mets will travel to Atlanta to begin a 3 game series on Tuesday.
