We are in the middle of a pretty significant youth movement. Last season, the Giants had the most cuppos in franchise history. We probably won’t match that this year, but it should be close. This thread will track this year’s cuppos.

After the first 2 games of the season…

Jung Hoo Lee (3/28)
Erik Miller (3/28)
Landon Roupp (3/29)

All but 1 are pitchers as well
We expect that kind of breakdown. We don’t have many position players who are cuppo-candidates this year.

Who else will we see? Almost certainly Black. Reetz is likely the next catcher up, but he got a taste with the Nats in ‘21.

Well, Black is about to become number 7.
I would guess that number 8 will be either Clay Helvey or Juan Sanchez.

Why is this org so god awful at developing hitters? The org with Bonds, Mays, Ott, Clark (x2) and Posey, but they simply swing and miss on almost all hitters that they try to develop. I am not going to pretend that I know what the problem is. It must be in the scouting room SOMEWHERE. But how can that last for GENERATIONS?

There are plenty of hitters that they can promote from AAA but all have major league experience already. With that said, yes, there has been a major problem with lack of hitting being developed from the farm. Even the guys they've traded or let go that have made the big leagues are lacking in quality hitting. It is a problem that they don't seem to be able to fix for whatever reason. And the way the Richmond and San Jose teams are hitting right now, it doesn't seem likely to change soon.
