I'll go with Bubba...pretty strong field right after a major.

You will indeed watch a lot of golf....what do you guys get for marshaling?...my brother in law marshaled at the old Liberty Mutal sr tour event when they had it at Slammer & Squire...he got a twosome freebie on the course and a hat.

Day is out. I'll go with Oosthuizen.

He has to be dialed in after a 2nd place at the Open.

A friend of mine marshaled for two days at the Men's U.S. Open last year and one day for the women at Pinehurst.

He had to pay for the clothing they made him wear and didn't even get a free lunch out of the deal. He did however enjoy the experience and said he would do it again in a heartbeat.

Bubba came thru in the end huh...if he likes the course (Hartford, Augusta) he seems to have a different mindset.

USGA...bummer, but I think there are more people like your friend. On the Champions tour...they might not have 1,500 people lined up to volunteer. Plus they were trying to promote the World Golf Village...in either case we got to play Slammer & Squire for free.

I guess all golfers, pro, or amateur...we all have courses we like better than others. But...we're not playing for a living. Bubba just seems to phase out if he doesn't like the track.

Got flipped two golf balls by caddies this past weekend. Thought for sure a kid was behind me but there wasn't one and they truly were for me

And it just makes no sense. Bubba is a 2 time Master's winner. He's made it. There is no monkey of his back.

Why not rededicate yourself to work on your games weakness. He has the talent to end his career with maybe 5 or 6 majors's but his stubbornness could keep him at 2.

And this is why Phil's win at the British Open was by far his greatest victory. His game was the worst for a links set up. But he made it a priority to compete in that event. And compete he did.

It doesn't...I'm a tour golf nut almost to the level of the NFL...but the money out on tour now is so huge, and combined with sponsorship cash...some incentive to be the absolute best you can be is taken away.

Speaking of Phil...I thought his 1st Masters was only because it did get the monkey off his back, but good point about the British...he finally embraced it for what it was...a different kind of game than American target golf.

But...the $3 mil...what do you think about that? I'm a little nervous for him actually...but for now, he's above the fray.

First and foremost, Phil is a degenerate gambler. He has a long history of betting big and small.
Most of the time the crook is not the one handing millions to someone else. The crook is usually the guy trying to get and keep money that is not his and or earned.

My thinking is this guy is some sort of middle man that can place bets for Phil in places that maybe are illegal for Phil to do on his own. Turns out the whole operation was illegal. The money transfer was in 2010 and the guy that got pinched has already plead guilty.

I'm thinking if he had something on Phil he would save his own neck and sing like a canary.

80% chance this blows over. But why be stupid and get in bed with guys like this. Can't you have a couple of million in an account in Vegas? Phil probably knows 2 dozen Vegas big shots who can place his bets in person.

Just dumb.

I'm the guy that goes to the casino with $100 that I'm prepared to lose, sometmes I win, but most of the time I lose, but I'm not going to leave there losing anymore than $100.

Yep, it's well known that Phil likes to gamble, but that's not that unusual for a guy with a lot of money...MJ may have been/is a bigger gambler than Phil.

To have $3 mil tied up in an illegal gambling scheme is just not what Phil needs...he makes way too much off the course to have his name attached to this.

Hopefully it does blow over, and I think it will also.
