Aldo has injured ribs which will definitely effect his fight with McGregor. The fight is a lot less intriguing now. McGregor would probably beat an injured Aldo. McGregor might be able to beat Aldo even if he were healthy due to his punching power. Aldo may not have his typical devastating kicks and quickness. I'd like to see both fighters at their best when they fight. I wouldn't mind seeing Mendes fight McGregor instead. Mendes would have to deal with the long reach and heavy hands of McGregor but Mendes has wrestling skills that McGregor may find hard to deal with.

At least he's not backing out of the fight. Been waiting on this for awhile

This is just a smokescreen. Aldo is and has been juicing and this will be the excuse. His trainer making those bizarre statements of why it's better for MMA fighters to use steroids because the fights are 'better'. I hope McGregor isn't using because I really want someone to root for at the top besides Mendes. I like Aldo's success story, but cannot root for anyone using.

Usually when I am interested in an MMA fight I have a rooting interest such as when Weidman fights. Werdum is another guy I have rooted for in fights. Not so with Aldo vs McGregor. I have rooted for guys to beat Aldo yet he always finds a way to get the decision and keep his belt. McGregor is very disrespectful to his opponents. I don't root for him yet he is clearly a special talent. Mendes has been chasing a dream for a long time. He has dominated everyone not named Aldo for years. I think Mendes vs McGregor would be a better fight than people expect. 5 of 6 of Mendes' last wins didn't reach a decision. The Aldo vs. McGegor fight should happen at a later time in my opinion. Aldo's fighting style and strikes have a cumulative effect on his opponents. Quick fights favor harder punchers & that is McGregor's game.

McGregor is entertaining so I'm hoping he can win just to see what he'll do and say. He's like Chael Sonnen but with actual talent.

Saw where McGregor is reportedly 27 pounds overweight (as of yesterday). That's a massive weight cut in just a couple days. Part of me wonders if his camp isn't floating this out there to use as an excuse if he loses. Like they realize Mendes is gonna be tougher to prepare for in such short time, so if McGregor loses, they can say he was too drained from the weight cut.

McGregor has been training for the fight with a full camp. He is probably cutting weight like he always does. I think he was just making a statement to Sonnen that he's a big guy. I don't read too much in to that. On another note McGregor is fooling himself if he thinks Mendes is intimidated by him. I think McGregor is about to have the toughest fight he has ever had. In addition to the takedowns Mendes is capable of hurting McGregor while standing. He swings hard. It would not surprise me if Mendes ends the fight with a body shot to the taller opponent.

27 is a lot, but doable. My son is an ammy, and he cut 21 pounds in 5 days. For a guy with all the resources McGregor has, it shouldn't be an issue

Test passed (he can't beat a wrestler), and KO in round 2 as promised. Apparently, McGregor bet Dana and Fertita 3 million dollars he'd knock out Mendes in round 2.

Pretty ballsy.

Smart man. Given UFC's pay structure, he needs to find other sources of revenue.
