I think generally the shipping fees charged by most breeders to ship a pup in the US is around 4-5 hundred bucks. I have a good friend that just had a braque du bourbonnais shipped to him and he paid $1200 for the pup and $500 to have it sent from up north to Texas

That is a bit more than I want to pay, lol

Spokane area. You?

Central Valley, CA. I heard Wild Pheasant hunting was pretty good up in Washington. Not sure whether that is still the case. Wild pheasants are almost extinct on private land here in CA. Few left.

We have our good years and bad years, but we also have supplementaion plants so you can usually find birds. We also have a fair amount of quail and huns to chase. Plus a 117 day waterfowl season, which is why I have a lab and not an exclusive upland dog.

Whip just turned six months and is nuts about splashing through the stream. I love the roan color that he has and it's particularly pronounced when he's wet. I've been netting feral pigeons at a local farm and launching them out of a release trap for him. He's very birdy and his prey drive is through the ceiling. He points anything that flies. I'm so stoked for this upcoming bird season.

Thanks guys. I've never had a dog like this one. He's amazing in just about every conceivable way. When I give a stern "come" he flies in like he was on a string. I'm certain that he's gonna be a fine hunting buddy.

Yes that's the plan. He's generally very obidient, has an amazing prey drive....crazy over birds .....and his natural point is pretty solid so I have a lot to work with.

I've been doing some woah work and I've been catching feral pigeons to release out of a launcher for him.

I'm not looking to trial him or anything so I'm quite confident he'll be a great hunting buddy. Retrieve training will tell whether he's hard mouthed but beyond that possibility, he's gonna be fun to hunt.

Thanks Bmurph....anxious is kind of an understatement!

Look at the natural fine form this 7 month old pup is developing. Tail pointing straight for the sky, foot tucked, head up high...just perfect.

Technology is so amazing these days. I just got a terrific deal on a used Astro 220 GPS dog collar. The newer models are very expensive but I got this one for $250.00. They tell you at all times exactly where your dog is, where he's been and what he's doing. It also tells you where you left your truck. In the past I used a beeper collar but they're obnoxiously loud and I suspect that it contributed to my dog's loss of hearing.

Years ago I took my folk's springer out hunting and at the first shot the damn dog took off for the hills. We searched for her for four fucking days wandering the woods. Man would this have saved a lot of hassle and worry.

I have no idea how I hunted without those before. Now, I do t worry about where my dogs are. I just let them hunt.
