My .02 like I said, I believe she is hurting his case by not talking. She should be cooperative because the law will assume the worst even though they shouldn't.

Now if he is cleared, he is back in the mix come summer time when teams can be over the cap while they sort stuff out financially prior to Opening Day. He is a T3 defender, and a RH shot to boot - those guys don't grow on trees, so they will hang onto him as long as they can me thinks until they have no choice.

Trial pushed back until after draft AND after UFA signings. So he is he can't be traded and the Kings can't sign anybody to replace him, because he could be back.

Basically the DA is saying the wife can be forced to testify per california code 972 e 1
Her/Voynov's lawyer is saying, " but she won't"

SB1356 prevents a judge from giving her jail time. By changing/adding california code 1219 c2

The issue is if she refuses to testify do they have a case? Since all the statements made by her can be attacked as a misunderstanding and she won't clarify her meaning.
The DA needs her to say " yes I said that to nurse/doctor/cop" She is the only witness. Everything else is hersay.
If she refuses the judge could toss out everything she said in the ER.

I don't think that it will be that easy. The bottom line is even I'd the wife does clam up and r fuse to testify in our heart of hearts we know that he did it.
Yes she is the only witness. But still I can look at turnout the same way. And with the injury now,bi don't think he will be the impact player thy he once was.

My god, does this have any more twists?

I'm assuming he was staying in shape but this really screws the Kings - can't trade or cut an injured player but the key is, he was not on the roster and suspended, not on the active roster but legally speaking he is not out of the organization completely so they will hold it against LA. Really messes with their cap situation and personnel decisions.

What a gigantic cluster all the way around.

If Voynov is found guilty and they revoke his 'green card' and NHL contract then he would be free to play anywhere that will take him.
However since some KHL teams can't make payroll right now, it may not be a great choice.

According to the Clinical Social Worker, the wife was concerned about her looks. Seems more and more that she is a pain in the buttocks and though she did not deserve to be hit, no woman does, she seems to be in this marriage for the money.

No way she will testify. $1000 fine if she doesn't testify. Slava goes to jail and then they both get deported if she does testify. Oh and They lose 4million a year in pay. Sure the KHL might pay him something so they won't starve.

This week is the big week. The judge could rule that is mrs voynov doesn't testify then nothing she said to anyone will be allowed. I think he will allow some stuff but not others. The more I read the more I think Slava will get off. The defense attorney is already laying the ground work for lost in translation. The what did she mean by " this" is a great example. The witnesses changing their stories from the first night and now. The treatment being withheld until she said that Slava injured her is another. Most of the witnesses said she asked over and over when will the "fix" this and will this leave a scar and if your are not going to fix this I am going to leave. The defense is going to claim that she felt like she had to say something or they would never treat her medical issue.

So I was trying to remember where I know the name Pamela Mackey from. She is Voynov's lawyer. So looked her up. She was Kobe's lawyer when he was accused of r*pe in Colorado. So apparently she is the go to Attourney for athletes that are accused of Violence against women.

The judge has put Voynov's wife in a position where she pretty much has to testify. The judge is allowing the police officer, nurse, and hospital security guard to testify.

If these people testify without his wife testifying, he will likely be found guilty. Only she can refute their testimony and give her version of the events.

We all know that he reason that she does not want to talk, is be cause he will be found guilty based on her testimony and she doesn't want to lose the golden goose. The problem is that they will prosecute with or without her. And she would rather face contempt instead of perjury.

No she doesn't. If she chooses not to testify, she will be charged with contempt and fined $1000.00. That is the max penalty the court can impose.
There is very little chance her lawyer or his will want her on the stand.

I read yesterday that the wife first said to police that he punched her in the face. I don't remember a punch ever mentioned. :noidea:
