This was a fantastic series. The pitching is on an absolute tear right now! Can they carry it into Colorado?

I was thinking about this aspect as well. Colorado is the ultimate pitcher-cooler, so there is next to zero chance this domination continues.

However, save for the Timmeh start in Cincy (which we still won, btw), our pitching has been stellar all month. This team is playing as well, if not better than, the team was last year at this point. Take away that huge stumble out of the gate, of course.

If we can just avoid the June Swoon this year, I like our playoff chances a lot this year. And we a LOT of MLB-ready talent on the farm that can be used for reinforcements or trades when needed.

Who needs to rebuild?

Speaking of the Colorado series, who will get the extra start?

We have 2 open spots on the 40-man, so there are really no restrictions on who can be called up.

IMHO, I think the top contenders are Blach and Blackburn, with Blach likely the favorite. Petit was mentioned on KNBR today, but I think they have to use a farm-arm for the start. Otherwise, they will be without Petit for 4 days while he recovers. However, it is a tough assignment to have a SP prospect take the bump for the first time in his career in Denver.

Maybe they go with Coello instead? He has some MLB experience, and he is not a prospect so you don't worry about "breaking" him. He would need to be outrighted or DFA'd right after the game, though. I am not sure if there are "legal" issues with pulling off that move.

I don't think they would throw Blackburn or Blach into the fire like that. It'll be Petit, I think Boch may have announced it.

If they do dig into the minors, then Blach is probably the first in line. Correa is down there too.

That win meant so much today. Remember at the end of season head to head records come into play and the Giants are on their way to winning that head to head with the Dodgers for the division. It just might come down to that.

Bochy said it'll be Petit starting one of the games Saturday, as long as he's not needed Friday. The 26th man callup will likely be Strick.

We lost the game that Timmy started in Cincy 4-3. Timmy had a no-decision. We scored in the top of the eighth to tie it up at 3-3 and take him off the hook. Romo gave up a dinger in the bottom half of the inning to take the loss.

In May, the SP has been pretty solid. The exceptions are:

May 6 vs. Puds -- Hesto got slapped around for 11 hits and 5 ER in 5 IP.
May 7 vs. Fish -- Huddy had one of the weirdest games ever, lasting 6.2 but giving up 15 (yes, fifteen) hits and 6 ER.
The rest of the month: 2.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and that includes the rainy shitshow by Hesto in Cincy.

Heston in Cincy...

2 IP, 5 ER

My bad, I was merging and confusing the Timmeh and Heston starts. Heston's start was clearly a bomb. But Timmehs would have been great fully taken over the last couple years 4.1 IP, 3 ER), but now is considered a stumble.

Where the fuck did this Timmeh come from? I don't think it is a contract drive. He turned down a huge contract because he did not want to become Zito. He is an odd cat, and I don't think $$ is at his core.

That said, I am not sold that he is back, yet. There have been month-long reemergences in the past, only to be followed by month-long nose-dives.
