How bout all those former BE rivals and current AAC members that we used to play in the pre season rankings? I've seen TCU and Baylor in just about everyone's top 5-10 Okie State in a few. Heck our "easy" games are looking like they will involve Texas and OU...... Ok so maybe part of me (the part that enjoys easier wins) DOES regret moving to the Big12 :dhd:

I miss the old Big East and the BCS system. We had such an easy ride to get into BCS game. It really sucks that we now have to play top 10 teams every year. We will never make it in the B12. Heck, we have even lost to Kansas and Iowa State. Even the cupcakes in the B12 give us fits. I want the ole Big East Back.:hellno:

I know programs that brag about a win when they only score 13 points...

Complete Garbage, Eddie P would NOT have found a way to get Pitt and VT back on the schedule. Eddie P would have put us in the ACC.

HOW DARE YOU CALL MY POST GARBAGE! I didn't criticize you when it came to your selection of bologna sandwiches, now did I. Obviously you did not read the article too well. The man is going in the Hall of Fame for his 21 years of service and spending only 65 million dollars in that time frame. Has to be the least spent at a D-1 school EVER! Look at us now. We are in the Big 12 and spending money like it's water. Building facilities in an effort to improve our sports teams. All these new facilities and for what? Only to go back to the AAC. I say if we improve anything, I say that we put money back into Stansbury Hall and hold basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling events there. Maybe with the money saved, they can open a bologna shop at the Mountain Lair. :D

Oh my goodness...EDDIE P still has some friends!...

It grew under his watch into a fixture among the nation’s top schools, reaching its height at the end when Pat White led the Rich Rodriguez-coached Mountaineers to four consecutive bowl victories and a regular place among the Top 25 and when, in 2010, Bob Huggins took the basketball team back to the Final Four.

He is credited with Rich's success?..a Coach he totally became dispondant with ??..

That was when he was in on the ground floor of forming the Big East Conference.

It really hurt,” Pastilong admits when talking about the breakup of the conference that had his fingerprints all over it. “When you are playing your basketball tournament in the most famous arena in the world — Madison Square Garden — and it features your university, it is so rewarding.”

???..Did I miss something??,,He had nothing to do with forming the BE Conference!...I will acknowledge he was at the helm when the BE decided to add football members...and WV was one of the last schools that gained entry...

About a decade after the conference's inception, Big East members decided to become a major football conference and thus added five schools including Rutgers, Miami, Temple, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. The inaugural Big East football season launched in 1991.[10] West Virginia and Rutgers joined the Big East as full members in 1995,[11] and Virginia Tech joined as a full member in 2000.[12] Temple remained a football-only member until 2004, when it was voted out of the conference due to poor attendance figures, lack of playing success, and inadequate facilities.[13] The Big East offered Notre Dame a non-football membership effective 1995.[1

And this my friends says it all!..........

“It’s important that universities not lose track of the fact that they are an institution and intercollegiate sports is an extra-curricular activity. It’s wonderful to compete at these very high levels, but let’s remain collegiate and not professional,” he said

And as far as the 65 million in improvments?...not sure where this dude is getting his facts..but this is what EDDIE P got accomplished in 23 YEARS!!......

During his tenure at West Virginia, Pastilong has overseen the construction of an indoor practice facility for football, stadium luxury boxes, a gymnastics performance center, new soccer fields, an outdoor track surface, lights for the baseball stadium, and new tennis courts

The Shell Building on the cheap ( 2 million we have already confirmed this before)...upgraded Luxury boxes...( Another 3 Million Dollar Upgrade) The Soccer Fields totaled 4.5 million.....Im not sure but I doubt the outdoor track surface, Lights at Hawley field and the tennis courts $55 miilion!...

Interestesting this from the Mountaineer Finance Website!.

Many of the current athletic facilities are 35-45 years old and in need of major makeovers, said Michael Szul, senior associate athletic director for business operations. He said the following revenue and non-revenue sports projects are also in the planning stages: renovation of the Coliseum restrooms and concession areas and potential expansion of the concourses; renovations and a new indoor track at the Shell Building; additional home and visiting locker rooms; additional weight rooms; renovation of the Natatorium and tennis courts; - See more at: WVU finance committee gets update on athletic facilities plan, PRT modernization

Well...if WVU was still in the AAC....it would be in great position to grab that ACC invite.

Now that the big spending Luck is out of the picture, WVU wouldn't have needed all that money to spend anyway. The AAC has zero facilities. WVU could be playing games against long time rivals like UConn, Cincy, Temple and ECU. And they could be relevant again with great defensive teams and 9 win seasons.

the Big 12 is nothing but the Devil's money....Devil's money I say. We need to get back to the AAC and sit on our hands waiting for the ACC to invite us in their conference. That way we can walk to play VaTech and play games. Have good ol' Pitt, Syracuse, Miami, and Boston College to play. Why play established programs or up and coming programs in the Big 12. Back to the AAC to sit on our hands. Similar to what some are claiming the Big 12 is doing. Devil's money.
