While having the first or second pick would've given the 76ers some pretty great trade bait, getting the third pick is not too bad. Towns and Okafor are basically locks for 1 and 2, giving them the choice of Russell and Mudiay. Still a long way off to the draft, but there is going to be a nice nucleus on this team with either guard and Embiid and Noel. Just a shame not one of the other first rounders came through this draft. Maybe they can package one of them and some 2nd rounders to get into the mid lottery. I really think this team is the most likely to win the next Philadelphia title (and I don't think they are that close to winning one).

I'd take Russell & run. The Knicks are already talking about possible trading the 4th pick. They don't seem to want Mudiay. If the Sixers can package 2 or 3 of their 2nd round picks to move into the 1st round fine. If not stand pat. They'll have the Lakers pick next year & probably Miami's. Maybe Denver's as well, OKC's is a lock next year.

I think Russell is going to be the pick. 19 year old guards with a 19-5-5 line isn't common. Yeah, he had a rough show in the tourney, but dude is a player. I really like the idea of Embiid, Noel, and Russell to start. That should be a really nice trio.

MY money is on Russell. I loved him at tOSU and wished he played another season to help the younger guys in Columbus. At least he may be playing for Philly I hope.

The more scouting reports I read on Russell, the more excited I am to get him. Some have him graded as the best player in this draft. Adding a 6'5" who can shoot and pass (although lacking elite athleticism) is exactly what this team could use.

Agree. He's a great leader, shooter, and a playmaker. We have not had a solid guard shooter since possibly Hawkins or Hornacek? Not sure if anyone more recent?

I mean they had Kyle Korver, but he didn't play a ton for them.

If the Sixers decide to pass on Russell they should trade down & take Justise Winslow. I don't see it happening, but you never know what will happen in private workouts.

I am beginning to get really worried that Russell will be gone before Sixers pick. A good number of people have him as the best pick in the draft. Others have it as Towns. Okafor seems to be dropping in a lot of people's eyes.

I'm not worried. I think the Sixers get there guy. I've always believed he was the best prospect in this draft. The Lakers possibly could go after him. I just don't see him going before the Sixers pick. I hope I'm right at least. I thought the same about Wiggins last season.

If everything pans out for the Sixers and they end up with Russell, they'll be a damn good team in the future paired with Noel and Embiid!

I really hope this is the case. It is close with him and Towns and Minny really needs the big man, so I think Towns is the definitive 1st pick. Okafor is really dropping in people eye's recently due to the defensive limitations - that is what scares me, Lakers could easily decide to go with the higher floor player in Russell.

It's not the end of the world that Russell canceled the workout w the Sixers. Philly saw his combine. They have drafted players in the past without any type of interviews and so worth. My only concern here is how was his impression with the Lakers? Everything I read weeks ago it appeared they wanted a big man. Let's wait and see if he cancels w the Knicks?

The cancellation was because Russell was sick is the rumor. If this go poorly for us and he gets picked #2 I would like to see Hinkie trade down. Raffle off Okafor to the highest bidder 4-7. Then draft whichever of Mudiay, Hezonja or Winslow falls into your lap. Just for the love of god don't draft Porzingis #3 overall.

So apparently Russell "killed it" with his Sixer workout. Furthermore, he loved his experience in Philly and would love to be drafted as a Sixer. That should put any doubts to bed. Unless the Lakers want to shove the big one in us. I just don't see the Lakers going for the small man, when everything Iv'e read points to drafting a big man.

I would love for them to find a way to get both Russell and Porzingis. I know that is a pipe dream, but after Towns I think they are the two best players.

do y'all really thing Porzingis is gonna make a good pro? I mean its a crap shoot with everybody. he looks like another Andrei Kirilenko. which isn't bad if he's being picked at 15 or 20 something

I can easily see a situation where Porzingis is a good pro. Granted it is from grainy film from an overseas basketball league or practice sessions. But 7 footers who can knock down threes are not commonplace. He probably has the highest ceiling in the draft, and he doesn't have the lowest floor of the top guys. I like Russell but he is by most accounts the high risk, high reward guy in this draft. I believe it was 538 that had him something like 15% chance of being a superstar/franchise guy and 30% to be well above average and about a 40% chance to be a bust. He had little to no middle ground. I don't mind swinging for the fences when the team doesn't have much. Hitting singles there doesn't turn you into a title contender, hitting the home run does. That's why I like both Russell and Porzingis. They (in my opinion and some experts) represent the two highest ceiling players in this draft. That's why I want both. Double the odds that you get a superstar.
