It sounds like the main reason the government was going to try to stop it was actually because of broadband. Their combined percentage of broadband market would be much higher than the TV market. The other big difference being that you usually only have once choice for high speed internet at your house (i.e., the cable company) but even if you have only one cable company in your area, you still have other options for TV since there is reasonable competition from the satellite providers.

Add this to the list of things the Volkswagen groups cars have accomplished that we will never see here in the North America.

Could you imagine running a Diesel/Electric Hybrid Golf (or A3 - same car) at 70+ MPG with zero impact on natural resources?
