They all won in the 2nd round of the tourney.

1/8 of the teams are from Ohio in the tourney now. What a great game by Dayton last night too. They are tough. I imagine they head down to the Dayton Mall for training.

There should be a regular tournament every season among those four Ohio teams. All four schools could take turns hosting it. Would be great for local bball. Only problem is those Buckeye pussies would never go for it.

The tristate is representing -- Indiana had IU, Purdue, Valpo, Butler and Notre Dame. And Kentucky and UK and Louisville..... Too bad that conference realignment has screwed up a lot of great regional action.

Absolutely, though much of the potential great regional action that doesn't take place could if schools like Kentucky and Ohio State weren't so protective of their "reputations" that they are scared to schedule local schools that might occasionally knock them off. There's little reason that Dayton, UC, Xavier, Kentucky, and Ohio State shouldn't play each other frequently, and I'll go so far as to say there should be a preseason tournament every year between these schools, with the location rotating yearly. It would be a great boon to local economies as well as bring national attention to the quality of basketball played in this region.

As a matter of fact, I think the tournament should be an eight teamer played every December, between UC, X, Dayton, OSU, Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana, and Butler. Could call it the TriState regional, and rotate the locale yearly so that each school gets to host it. Wouldn't be too hard to get a contract for someone like ESPN to televise the tournament every year. The benefits to local economies and the lowering of travel costs to each school would be incredible. Someone should make it happen.

Makes too much sense.

The day that OSU helps UC or Dayton make money is the day that Mike Brown pays for a practice facility.

I might actually watch college basketball outside the NCAA tourney if they did this. That sounds like a good time there. See if you can get it passed through Doug! :)

It'll never happen.

OSU and UK would never play UC, Dayton, XU unless forced to. They feel they have too much to lose, and not enough to gain, which is dumb. But it is what it is.

It is dumb. And you are pointing out the obvious to me again. Just because something is the way it is doesn't mean it should be that way.

I know. I am agreeing with you on the matter, it's just sad that the two other schools feel like they are too good to play local teams. Hell, UC isn't even that bad of a loss, and hasn't been the past 2-3 years. Dayton has been good since Archie arrived, and XU is probably the most consistent team in the region.

Exactly. It's pathetic. Such as life in major college basketball and football. The Alabamas and Ohio States would rather schedule out of conference games against Chattanooga or The Citadel, then play a legitimate D1 program. It's been that way for years.

The loser in all that is the season ticket holders. Being forced to play for what amounts to preseason games in which the game is over midway through the 2nd quarter.

The way tOSU or UK see it, it's not beneficial for them to help another program that could compete for regional dollars or regional players. Why would tOSU want to play UC? It just gives UC more money and media exposure. They don't have to sell a product up there anymore..... They can play Kent State and sell all of their seats and put the game on the Big 10 network -- They're getting paid regardless. To them there is just no incentive.
And it sucks.
