I want to be careful not to violate any copyright laws as this material was posted on the paid members site of BGN. I paraphrased and removed major commentary from him… and added some of my own. A very interesting look back at this class… Kevin starts with his assessment of the offensive recruits from that class.

This is his grading system…

Star: A multi-year first-teamer
who produced excellent play and
earned all-star or other honors.

Starter: Those with at least one
season as a regular starter and a
record of solid performance.

Backup: Players who filled
substitute roles on offense or
defense, and also those who manned
one or more special teams positions
on a consistent basis.

Contributor: Those with mostly
special teams appearances or scout
team roles,

No-Show: Those that never
arrived or quickly departed from the
program.

He started with the QB recruits. A couple of studs, some analysts believed one or both could eventually push Geno out of a starting position…

Jeremy Johnson - quickly left the program. Eventually transferred to Blinn College… a JUCO school. Moved to WR.
Kevin's rating: No Show

Barry Brunetti - played one year at WVU where he totaled 10 yards of total offense. Transferred to Ole Miss, where he was 65 for 112, 634 yards, 7 TD's. He also rushed 153 times for 697 yards, 7 TD's.
Kevin's rating: No Show

Only 1 RB

Trey Johnson, out of VA HS. Played 2 years for WVU, ended with 2 rushes for 8 yds in 2011.
Kevin's rating: No Show

WR class

Deon Long - transferred to New Mexico before transferring and ending his playing time at MD. Pretty good performer for MD. Had trouble with early morning training schedule at WVU.

Kevin's RATING: No Show

Quantavius Leslie - an academic non-qualifier. Went the JUCO route before transferring to LSU. At LSU he had 1 reception for 11 yards.
Kevin's rating: No Show

Ivan McCartney - what a waste. He finished with 71 catches, 861 yards, 4 TD's
Kevin's rating: Backup

Dante Chambers - a Miramar, FL graduate. Did nothing at WVU
Kevin's rating: No Show

Offensive Line….

Quinton Spain - played in 50 games, started 39. Earned 3 all-league honors his Sr year.
Kevin's rating: Starter

Marquis Wallace - non-qualifier
Kevin's rating: No Show

Benji Kemoeatu - Originally a Utah commit, changed his mind and committed to WVU, didn’t qualify, went
JUCO, but failed to graduate on time.
Kevin's rating: No Show

Offensive Totals: No Stars, One Starter, One Backup, Eight No Shows

Isn't that unbelievable? Not a single star out of the entire group. 8 frickin' no shows!

As I have harped on this for the past two years, the results of this class… the failures of this class… are major reasons why WVU has had a couple of tough years… especially in its move to the Big 12 where it faces much tougher competition.

Unfucking believable…

Shhh! Don't challenge Dad's alternate reality where all these players were 5 star guys who were amazing players.
