Tough Defense Leads UT To 73-52 Win

KNOXVILLE - A great defense effort in the second half and a double-double by Jeronne Maymon highlighted a Vols' 73-52 exhibition win over Carson-Newman before 15,344 on Thursday night.

Sophomore Jordan McRae led the Vols with 17 points while Maymon tallied 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Trae Golden chipped in with 14 along with five assists.

The Vols held the Eagles to just 17 percent from the floor in the second half (4-of-24) and forced C-N into 22 turnovers.

UT hosts Lincoln Memorial on Monday in its second exhibition, tipping at 7 p.m.

I figured the score would be a little worse than that...only 39-30 at half. Oh well. Just gotta work on getting better before the season starts!

Yea they looked pretty lost on some of the plays, not a very impressive start. And yea we will miss Hopson and Harris badly, would of been a great stepping stone for Cuonzo
