I really enjoyed the book. It's too bad you can't just enjoy a storyline without trying to add a nonexistent liberal bias to it. The book was written by a girl who was raised by her maid in the south. She's just writing what she knows.

well.. just fyi.. its not a story about slavery.. its about a few women in Mississippi who were paid help (cooking, cleaning being nannies) to middle class white women during the 50s and 60's and the story is just told from their persective.. if you actually paid attention to the movie you would know this.

Well yeah, but then you wouldn't get the good fried chicken. That irony is the primary message of the film - or at least that's what I got from the first 12 seconds. (the overused "spoiled white bitches don't do shit" theme)

Even the firecrotched star of the movie was supposed to be the hero in revealing truths to the public, but I didn't see her makin' any chicken either. Ironic indeed.
