Default Social Conservatism is a losing message

Ron Paul speak troof: Ron Paul on Social Conservatism: 'I Think It's a Losing Position' | CNSNews.com

Smaller gov't has nothing to do with legislating morality. This country was based on Freemasonic priciples - especially smaller gov't and individual responsibility. Too bad those don't seem to raise the most political donations.

The ads Paul ran here against Santorum in SC were vicious, man. Really exposed him as an earmarking hypocrite, not fiscally conservative at all.

Errr...he isn't really arguing that. He is arguing that all social issues should be left to the states.

Ron Paul has been #2 in donations virtually the entire election. What are you talking about?

I agree that the concept of social conservatism is not the platform that the Republicans should run on. These issues do not represent the problems that America faces or the issues that standout the most in the minds of Americans.

I am pro-choice, therefore I support the right of anyone to make up their own mind on abortion but not to force their views on me or anyone else.

As to what the country was founded on and what it is today these are issues of contention. Remember Madison, Jefferson and Hamilton all agreed that the document that they presented to the American people, might not be applicable at some time in the near or far future.

Small government has not existed for a long time due to the demands of it's citizens. Individual responsibility is another concept that has changed from the 18th Century in virtually all parts of the world, again, due to demands for various services and a more worldly outlook on the rights of man.

True but he's grass-roots and is truly a large number of small donors candidate. (like Obie falsely claims to be) Guys like W. and Santorum get the big, fat checks from religious and other morality focused groups. Obama gets the big Wall Street, gay lobby, gov't employees, union checks, etc. (and ACORN)

My point was there is no massive lobby for smaller gov't. 70% of Americans want it but, apparently, we're all too disinfrancised or disinterested to open our checkbooks and get a candidate truly unimcumbered by large lobby loyalty. Although Ron Paul lacks appeal he is without a big support group.

Who is Romney in the tank for anyway?

Same people as Ron Paul?

Paul is effectively acting as Romney’s on-stage surrogate during the debates. The key question is: what is Paul getting out of it?

Rumor - Ron Paul is hoping Rand Paul can get a spot in Romney's admin.

Hmmm. I was thinking it was because of what Ron Paul is doing; IMO he's trying to educate voters about what he thinks we should be concerned about and focusing attention on fiscal issues.

If Paul attacked the front runner, he would potentially be helping Obama and would, therefore, defeat the purpose of trying to help this country by helping a Marxist douche.

So you think Gingrich and Santorum are trying to harm this country?

No mister twister. I think they are trying to win the Presidency whereas Paul has more altruistic motives.
