Probably. He has angered a lot with his auto industry talks, the state is heavily union (democrat), and Mitt has been saying what the country wants to hear and Michigan doesn't.

Unions are losing their grip on power, and the majority of the country is behind that. The heavily union dependent states are against that though, and the GOP will likely lose those states in November. I think Mitt knows that and isn't spending a lot of time kowtowing to those unions and instead speaking to the other 45 or so less union-heavy states.

Well, Al Gore lost his own state in 2000. So anything could happen. The last time Michigan went Republican was 88'. I dont' see them changing anytime soon. Michigan is union heavy and they have some pretty good pull toward the Democratic Party.

In that case, yeah, don't see Mitt coming out on top this one. The only chance is if he got Les's endorsement,

but I think Les is leaning toward Ron Paul.

Yes, he will likely lose it for the reasons I said. If you were mitt and KNEW you were going to lose the state, even though GOP delegates are up for grabs, would you say what that states wants to hear and ostracize or upset the rest of the states that you actually have a shot at carrying in November? Granted you ahve to believe that without the state you will get the nomination, but MI isn't going to swing anything as far out in front as Mitt is.

I'd make an appearance, get the partial delegates that I can while not angering non-union states, and move on to a state that I can get the delegates and then the votes in November. No use angering the majority in order to get a few votes now.

Does not look good for Mitt in Michigan right now. He still is the Reps best hope in November.

What is it that you think Romney is saying that Santorum is not saying?

Palin to the rescue:
Quote:
"We could be looking at a brokered convention," she told Fox Business Network on Wednesday. "Months from now, if that's the case, all bets are off as to who it will be willing to offer up themselves ... in service to their country. I would do whatever I could to help."
Romney's struggles fuel talk of brokered convention

The Trouble With Mitt - Ricochet.com

Quote:
Mitt Romney wants to be the next president of a country in need of serious and sweeping economic reform. And here are the first two points in his 59-point economic plan:

*** 1. Maintain current tax rates on personal income
*** 2. Maintain current tax rates on interest, dividends, and capital gains

Now imagine private-equity boss Romney back at Bain Capital sitting down to read his team’s 59-point turnaround plan for some troubled widget maker. And imagine if the first two action items started with the phrase “Maintain current ….” Romney probably wouldn’t bother reading any further before tossing the report in the trash, calling a meeting, and cracking heads. Heck, if Private Equity Romney were called in to turn around Romney Campaign Inc., axing CEO Romney might be the first move on his to-do list—especially after looking at last night’s numbers from Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri.
Part of the reason Romney seems so electable is he appeals to the same voters as Obama in the middle.

So Mitt pisses off the state with telling the auto industry the truth, and he still beats Santorum.

Turn out the lights...this thing is OVER.

Looks like Santorum's call for the dems help failed.

Fucking douche!

so they split the delegates 14-14

not technically a loss, but a very poor showing in his birth state

Those Evangelicals could care less if Mitt is from Michigan. Let's see how Santorum does in Mass.

The Bible beaters listen to their leaders (Palin, Beck) and vote for who they tell them is the most "Conservative". I'm getting tired of that word.

Considering all we heard in the run up was that Mitt was going to lose MI because of his stance on the auto bailouts, I'd say a 50/50 split is a decisive victory. If all the underhanded crap Santorum did and Mitts own writings couldn't give Rick more than a split, then that dude is in trouble.

Like I said, Rick might as well close up shop. Just wasting money now. Block Dems from voting and Mitt would have destroyed Rick.

Evangelicals? What evangelicals? Backman, the big evangelical was the first one who dropped out, because she didn't recieve crap votes. If Palin and Beck had such a strong influence Backman would still be in it. The media always bring up the evangelical vote, but don't buy into the hype because that is all it is...just a talking point.

Well let's see... We are talking about the election last night in Michigan right?

If you look at the exit polling there, you'll see that white evangelicals supported Santorum by a large amount over Romney.

Bachmann? Who the fuck cares about her anymore?
