Default insider trading completely legal

when it comes congressmen and women? if they were not in congress, doing what they do would get them locked up....then someone comes to their senses and comes up with a bill to make it illegal for congressfolk to do this, and the republicans block it. smh

you think its okay that they do this and are actively trying to stop measures that would prevent them from doing this? even while others are going to jail for doing the exact same thing? cause unless you are a member of congress, i dont see how you could be okay with it

Kinda' funny about this....Everybody knows it's wrong and quite stupid that Congress is exempt from inside trading laws.(they shouldn't be exempted from anything) However, our Reps are SO stupid, nobody has really found any of them that have made significant profits from trading on their own legislation.

Even the committee head dude who's in trouble right now hasn't made squat trading on his own knowledge of what's coming. I'd have my broker trade the hell outta' stocks profiting from what I knew - then, I'd say "hey, it's legal" to illustrate the ridiculousness. Sometimes it takes the extreme to get these a-holes to fix things.

They passed the STOCK Act to make it illegal recently. To imply that they are "actively trying to stop laws that prevent this" is an outright lie. Even 60 Minutes this week ended by saying that it is was no longer legal.

It's alright, though. Don't let the facts get in the way of your conspiracy theory...

Ohhhh....that's why Bachus is in trouble now - because of the Stock Act. This business is so irrelevant to MY life, I hadn't really paid attention.

Rep. Bachus faces insider-trading investigation - The Washington Post

Speaking of "irrelevant" - this is irrelevant to this thread but had to find a place to use it:

okay, maybe not block it...but attempt to tweak it enough to where they can carry on as they have been

you expect anyone on Hoopla or anyone we directly influence to have any sway over it? It is being looked into and being investigated, so why get all worked up over it? Unless they are buying the shares that you sold, it doesn't affect you at all.

same as Adam and Steve getting married doesn't affect us at all, same as Slut Bag Cindy getting an abortion doesn't affect us at all, (this list can go on and on and on).....so why does everyone get so worked up about these?

I'd venture to say that most posters here know an Adam or Steve, or know a Slut Bag Cindy that would or are directly affected by legislation for those people.

Very few if anyone here is directly affected by what some idiot in DC is doing with his money in the stock market. Like I said, unless you are selling your shares just before they explode and that person bought them based on his inside knowledge, then it doesn't really affect us. It sucks that htey are taking advantage of their situation and can get away with it, but whats new? They can also get out of tickets that you and I can't, can get away with not paying taxes, and the list goes on and on.

I realized after writing the "who cares" that topics like this is what we discuss on these boards. This is just one that doesn't get me riled up. I've got no skins in this game, so why spend energy debating it seriously. Hence my original joke post to you.

okay...so if you know a gay couple...how does them getting married directly affect you and your daily life? and if you know a female who wants an abortion, unless she is your girlfriend or wife or relative, how does that affect your life?

fair enough...but most of the topics debated on here do not affect any of us in our day to day life

Are you serious? You don't think blatant government insider trading and corruption has any affect on you or me?

Shorts on Fannie and Freddie went up some 74% the week before the government released that they would be taking control of both.

It really makes no difference to you that the ones passing legislation are financially vested interest in said legislation?
