We don't teach our kids anymore.

We prepare them to take tests.

Let's stop wasting time in this thread and point a finger at the unions who've let teachers do a shitty job for all those decades.

Enjoy that nice paycheck in retirement. The rest of us will be working until we're 80 paying for your undeserved pension. <the OP being just one of many reasons it's undeserved>
I had 180 students and I gave lots of assignments. I can't keep informing every parent about missed assignments. I arrived at 7:00 every day to supervise the kids who were the early arrivals. I got paid nothing for that. Class started at 8:50. I always was among the last to leave, usually at 5:00.

I usually worked every day of the year except when I took my annual 2 week vacation. I did a lot of planning, grading papers, posting grades on the online gradebook, writing lesson plans, searching for pictures and charts to try and keep the class interested. I can't think of a non-school day where I didn't put in at least an hour and sometimes 4-6 depending on circumstances. Christmas and Thanksgiving no exception.

School unions in Texas have no power. I only joined because for the $110 a year I got 6 million in liability insurance. The unions have a no-strike pledge in Texas and mainly lobby for more money for the teachers.

I earned my pension and my social security check as did my wife. I also have a nice 401k from my workdays and saved a lot of money.

I just booked my 3rd vacation for between now and the early part of next year so I will enjoy my retirement.

Meh, college is simple as shit. It's the only thing you can pass and still get wasted and high every single day/night.

I believe he was referring to an ejumakashun degree. You know, the one people get when they've been denied all other colleges and have no hope of passing math classes.
