Oh you didn't hear? The White House says that we are no longer in a recession and are barrelling down the road to recovery.

Nevermind the unemployment rate, ignore that.

Technically we're not in a recession, though obviously times have been better in the past. That would be prior to 2007. It "looks" like we are headed to recovery, but I wouldn't bet too much on it. However I'm hopeful.

Don't hold your breath on the debt. When it passes 20 trillion, regardless of which party is in office, think of telling your children, "it's your problem now, I quit."

A) Sure do. Have seen much growth? Enough to say we are no longer in a recession?

I don't think there is a technical definition to "recession", so anyone could say that we are/aren't in one.

B) The stock market may have made slight gains, but I have seen no relief at home. Employment rate is still high as are gas prices, groceries, etc.

Well you still have your hope. We have a new healthcare bill, there's your change. See, as promised.

W kinda' fucked us. He expanded gov't so much that when it came time for a democrat, there was no money left to blow. So, instead of having our normal "couple quarters of negative GDP" recession with a strong rebound, we're just mired down in a statist swamp...debt soaring as Keynsian stupidity pisses the borrowed funds down the drain.

What a mess. It's time to stop fucking around and get some peeps in there who understand Econ101.

The Recession in Perspective - Compares output and employment changes during the present recession with the same data for the 10 previous recessions - The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

Financial meltdown will be longer than normal recession and recovery weaker, says IMF | Mail Online

I get that you are like to blame everything on the federal government and debt but, sorry, that is too myopic. The causes of and available responses to the 2007 recession are not directly comparable to previous recessions.

a) Yes, there are agreed upon definition of how a recession is defined. As well, the NBER assessment of when we enter and exit a recession is a pretty well accepted standard.

b) By slight you mean something around 50% since the recession ended?

No one here is saying things are great but the economy IS recoverying. Things ARE getting better. Time will tell if it holds (e.g. does euro dissolve and take us all down with it??)

I was doing a job in the garage just now with the news on and they keep going on and on about this thing with Obie and the Church. Well, I just had to laugh. The Catholic nitwits have been supporting liberal causes and candidates forever with complete disregard to unintentional consequences and economic damage.

They went to bed with the whores and now they're waking up with them.

To sit back hoping that someday, some way, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last - but eat you he will.

It's almost like the world is watching what I (we) say on the Hoopla. No sooner did I write this above and a perfect article is written on the topic:

American Catholicism?s Pact With the Devil - Ricochet.com

basically, the article says when the Catholic Church started accepting the premise that the gov't programs paid with forced taxes were akin to charity, they began feeding the alligator.

It's a long a very involved article. You really have to give a shit to finish it.
