Speaking of Paul, I've talked with several people about him and they all seem to have similar opinions. It's something like "I like him and some of the stuff he stands for but I don't know if I'll vote for him. I don't think he can be a serious candidate".

This pisses me off to no end. If these people would ACTUALLY VOTE FOR HIM instead of being so wishy-washy about it, then he would have a chance. Paul is just an example, but I've heard this logic before. Do people realize how stupid they are?

Hillary Clinton might have been a better option and maybe McCain would have been. No way to tell.

Of course, by 1984 our economy was rockin' and we had once again become the envy of the world - because supply-side stimulus works and Keynsian bullshit does not.
The numbers are as honest today as they were in the 1980. If we're talking about the unemployed that have given up and are not looking for a job anymore, that's a constant. People have always dropped out of the labor force and stopped looking for a job.

Honestly, I don't know of a reputable economist that dosen't think things are worse now than 1980.

I don't advocate Keynsian economics. The model is no longer aplicable.

Fair enough. I remember during the election I was worried that none of the candidates would be able to do much. Partly due to the economy being so bad, partly due to none of them really sticking out. Seems almost the same this year.
