Starting at 1:30 - yea, I can completely believe that executives at an industry meeting talk just like that...

Geologists in Oklahoma have stated that the injection wells in Lincoln county, OK are too shallow to have caused any seismic activity related to the recent quakes. The wells are approximately 2 miles above the fracture zone.

maybe. I hope so...it may all just be coincidence and simply correlation with no causality but.......

I would not be surprised if forcibly cracking the Earth deep down in order to force the release of trapped gas...has very bad negative unintended consequences.

We should be fracking all over to prevent a catastrophic earthquake and collecting all the fossil fuels just as a positive side effect.

I have already thought of that and it's possible...but we don't know enough to control it and the locations being fracked with are not typically at risk of faults. Also when earthquakes do happen in those regions they are not large or devastating events. It's not like we are causing minor earthquakes on faults with well documented event cycles and releasing energy in smaller increments... The most likely outcome is we are breaking up relatively stable regions of the earth's crust and introducing additional entropy into an already unstable environment...it's like throwing firecrackers onto the floor of rave - expecting a good outcome is foolish...

It was a little tongue in cheek. However, the 2nd biggest earthquake after that one in Alaska was the New Madras new St. Louis. Studies have also shown pressure to be building there. They'd better squirt some lube down there.
