Other countries don't have half the issues we do with alcohol because it's part of the culture. Parents police their children with it, can have a beer or whatever, mild restrictions to hard liquor. It works. But it'd never work in the US now...kids are too immature and obsessive about it. I'm fairly straight edge. Mostly because I could just care less about it. Occasional drinks? Drinking at a party in moderation? Sure, why not. I have zero desire to get hammered or be anywhere near someone who is. In the same sense, legalization of marijuana in this country filled with a bunch of oversized infants (once again, I live with a lot of college kids) could be a horrible thing. It may end up okay, but I'd rather not deal with it. I'm fine with it being used appropriately, but I'd say that's about 10% of the people that use it.
I don't think any more people abuse pot than alcohol, but that's just my opinion.

My grandfather, father, two uncles and three of my high school friends are/were cops. As a kid, most of my parents' friends were cops (of course). In my line of work I deal with cops from five states, countless jurisdictions as well as feds and private investigators.

In my experience, of all the cops I have known personally, only one or two has been morally questionable and unworthy to wear the badge. Unfortunately for me, one was in fact my father.

Most are just people who want to do the right thing and come home to their families at the end of the shift.

You think I'm tough on criminal types, you should see me when a cop oversteps his bounds. I once stood toe to toe with a three letter agency type and made him back down. He was actually ordered to write me an apology.

No doubt that MOST are great cops. But the mere fact that even ONE morally questionable person can be empowered with that kind of authority is just sickening. It is a few bad cops that give them all a bad name around many parts.

I have family friends, cousins, and neighbors who are cops. All good people. But even they admit there are many cops they know that they hope I am never pulled over by. And god forbid I am pulled over after a drink or two.

I've never had any major problems with cops, never gotten in a major trouble aside from a few questionable speeding tickets. I've just heard too many stories about how they are out there. And that info is coming from within.

My personel opinion on cops are there are two kinds.

Tool - Mr. Goodie Two Shoes, never done anything wrong in their life.

Liar - Did everything you could imagine that would disqualify them from being a cop....if they told the truth.

I also think they should make Whoppers and Bloomin' Onions illegal, because of what they did to my brother.

Sarcasm aside, the food industry is not innocent in all of this

Hell no. Look up what the FDA lets the fast food places call "beef." You'll never eat at one again.

Untrue

If you were too drunk, you wouldn't had had the dexterity to press the right buttons and or spell all that correctly.
If you were too high, you would have forgotten why you hit the post button and would still be staring at it.

I'd be in favor of legalizing it even though I do not smoke it. If it was legal, or if I had a connection, I would smoke it now and then in the privacy of my own home. I just do not care what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own homes - whether its drugs, alcohol, homosexuality, or cheering for the Bruins.

Another great post sullied by taking it one step too far.
