Default Is Bo the Next Nick?

Okay not trolling. Just trying to instigate some discussion.

If we look back at Saban's career we might see enough similarities to wonder if Pelini's HC career is taking the same route.

Before jumping on this bandwagon though take a breath. If I am right this is not good news for us.

Saban's first head coaching job was Toledo for one year leading them to a 9-2 record. He then went until 1995 before taking a HC position again. Okay maybe not the same as Bo but Pelini's one game interim head coach does give him HC experience with long stretch before taking a job as head coach again.

Then 1995 Saban takes the HC position at Michigan State going 34-21-1 over 5 years. Not exactly stellar but for taking a program out of the pits of despair not too shabby either. Then in 2000 he took the HC position at LSU almost immediately elevating them to a position of SEC relevance from mediocrity (3 top ten seasons in 30 years) . His achievements there, 2001 wins the SEC over Tenn and 2003 his first National Championship, top 10 2 out of 3 years before trying the pros. Then to Alabama and we all know the story, almost immediately a former powerhouse restored to it's previous status.

So if and if is a BIG word, Pelini is on the same track then we are in year 4 of an okay tenure and we have a coach that will soon be winning titles only not here.

Pelini B1G to SEC? With his evident frustration with the fans, the media and his players inconsistent play this is very possible. He will have the recruits he wants.

I guess the question should be "Is Pelini Dooleys successor in 2 years?"

Next year will be a big year fer Bo. If he has another 9-10 win season, these ungrateful fans will shit on him once again. Bo will leave because of fans before recruiting

We as a fan base are retarded to expect anything better than 9-10 wins next season. I would be happy with that result.

I would be ecstatic with 10 wins. I am accepting 8. No happy with 8 but expect no more.

edit: Don't know if I would call them ungrateful fans either. There are certain expectations that at this point aren't really apparent. I know coaching and conference changes are going to effect us but there still will be expectations.

I expect 3 or less losses every year.......

The occasional 4 loss season will happen.....

This 4 losses every year, needs to stop

Meh. Saban's always been a fiery rough around the edges guy. I see a lot of similarities between the two. Bo just needs to learn to turn the charm on more often because he is capable of that, he just chooses to be a raging asshole 80% of the time to the media.

It's all part of the "process". We are the training ground for the staff he will take to greener pastures.

The difference between Bo and Nick is that Nick just hires unbelievable assistants and then recruits well............and then he lets them do all the work.

Bo hires middle of the road assistants and then struggles somewhat to recruit.............and then he ends up trying to do more work than a head coach probably should be doing.

Idc what anyone says I'm happy for the most part with the coaches we have. Do I think we would be better off with Ed Warriner as our OC and Stoops as our DC? Yes. I just don't know for how long though...

Sometimes you're just one player away though... Auburn proved that. Wisconsin proved it to a lesser degree.

If we could have landed RG III we'd be sitting here polishing our knobs to recordings of conference championships and I firmly believe we would have played for and probably won at least one national title had he decided to come here.

Quarterback who can truly run and throw folks. That be the missing piece.

Taylor MUST have a stellar offensive line and receivers that can catch.

He doesn't have the intangibles to do it on his own like an RG III.

The beloved has been an electric unstoppable beast at times, but he has also been a horrific uncle rico-esque train wreck at times. Not enough consistency.

Baylor had some great offensive linemen last few years. Couple those dudes are now cashing NFL checks IIRC.

To put the 'dual' into the threat, Taylor needs a 4 yard E/W running lane the length of the field.

They've had a couple, but not near the #s of some of the top tier programs.
