AJ Derby has asked and been released of his Iowa scholarship.

Something not so fresh in the Iowa waters...maybe Ferentz is cleaning house again and getting rid of the trash or maybe Ferentz is losing his mind.

Hey listen not every kid is going to take to a position change. Iowa has been extremely fortunate in the past to have had luck switching guys without too much ill will but Derby obviously doesnt want to play LB or DE ( they had talked about moving him there this offseason).

Its the whole thing...I don't care about Derby...he's just an idiot who didn't want to contribute. What irritates me is the fact that we don't know for sure about Coker...I've got.faith in the staff to turn this thing around but we have had a lot of attrition the past few years and its getting quite annoying...

We have had attrition largely due to our players being jackasses. Dont assault people, steal their shit, get freaking bombed every night and then there are no issues. The staff is responsible to an extent but at the end of the day the players need to be grownups and if they cant manage that then Iowa is better off without them. I have NO problem with Derby. Its not fair to say he didnt want to contribute. He changed positions mid season, played special teams and then when they talked about changing his position again he decided to leave. Im OK with that. Its not like hes a freshman and has 4 years to learn a whole new skill set and to change his body to fit the mold they are trying to force on him. Kid has 2 years left to play and he wants to play QB, go get it man, not a big deal.
