No or Never Illini

Ever since guys like Deron Williams and Dee Brown left the program, inconsistency has been the norm for Bruce Weber’s teams in Champaign. It has also been the norm for those teams to underachieve enough to make many fans of Illinois end up hunched over a garbage can vomiting as violently as that 12-year old who just came off the rollercoaster and realized he no longer agreed with those funnel cakes and ice cream Snickers bars.

Fortunately, this 2011-2012 squad has experienced many more highs than lows. The Illini was one of only six teams in Division I hoops to win their first ten games this season. They also started their Big Ten schedule with a 4-1 record and stood alone in first place.

Unfortunately the high of sitting atop the standings of the best conference in the country did not last long. The come-down consisted of two pitiful losses in just a 72-hour span.
