MTSU vs Georgia Tech

MTSU kicks off their home opener Saturday vs GT. The Jackets won last seasons meeting, 42-14. The Blue Raiders hung around till half (14-7), but 4 INT's by senior QB Dasher and 6 overall turnovers put a hault to any Blue Raiders comeback.

This will be the 3rd ACC team to visit Floyd Stadium under coach Rick Stockstill.

2011:
2008: Maryland 14 - MTSU 24
2007: UVA 23 - MTSU 21

I think the Blue Raiders keep it close till halftime, then the Jackets pull away around the middle of the 3rd.

sadly not beating Purdue means that beating Georgia Tech is very unlikely

to add on to the bad news, if you guys do win this game you can't take over this board because we actually have a Georgia Tech fan.

Good game and congrats to GT. They played great tonight. That TD on the 1st play was a bummer. MTSU had a couple good drives going but couldn't do anything with them (missed FG, INT, fumble). GT has that offense perfected. That option was money all night. The Jackets brought a decent amount of fans...so that was good to see. Good crowd, overall. MTSU has a week off before their game @ Troy. They better come out better than they did tonight. Good luck to Georgia Tech the rest of the season.

...and I'm not afraid to admit I left in the 3rd, lol. Earliest I have ever left a game. But man, I was tired and bored to death.

MTSU are good hosts. I wasn't there, but there seemed to be good sportsmanship all around.

The offense has come a LONG way from last year. We finally have a QB that is a decent passer and can still run. We are going to be much better this year than last. I absolutely love watching our offense, it's so smash mouth.

I think MTSU is better than this game reflected. They got rattled on the first play and I think they never really settled down. The QB seemed to be trying to force some throws in an attempt to catch up.

Good luck against Troy, we are looking for revenge next week hosting Kansas.

Don't know if you would know or not, but were the kickoffs by design? The first 2 by GT went out of bounds. I have a hard time thinking GT seen the MTSU returners (Mason & Russell) as a threat. Maybe just a bad night.

They were not by design. It's the weirdest thing, our special teams have been the worst I have seen on ANY team for the past several years. I don't know why. Last year, at least 1 kickoff sailed out of bounds per game. It's driving coach nuts, and everyone else as well.

Georgia Tech looks seriously improved on both sides of the ball this year. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I was thinking another 6-6 type year.... but I may be adjusting my expectations up to about 8-4 or 9-3 now. GO JACKETS!

I know why. Paul Johnson doesn't care about special teams. It's why we lost to Air Force last year. We didn't even have a backup punt returner. And so when Tarrant went out.... the replacement muffed 2 punts on one drive.
