Arizona Cardinals defensive backs coach Teryl Austin and Clemson defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison are on Florida coach Urban Meyer's short list as potential replacements for defensive coordinator George Edwards, who left after less than a month on the job to join the Buffalo Bills' staff earlier this month.

Austin met with the Florida staff on Wednesday in Gainesville, Jeremy Fowler of The Orlando Sentinel reported.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told Travis Sawchik of The Charleston Post and Courier that he was contacted on Wednesday by Florida officials regarding their interest in Harbison, who's one of the Tigers' best recruiters.

Meyer was scheduled to take a leave of absence following national signing day. But with this being such an important hire, there's no question that the final call will be his.Tags:Florida Gators, Urban Meyer, Teryl Austin, Charlie Harbison

I think that I heard UF hired some guy from the Cardinals.
