This isn't as "old" of news as you guys seem to be claiming. This story about replacing the trees if they don't show improvement in the Spring is just came out a couple of days ago.

They have been saying that they hope to keep the trees instead of replacing them, but apparently they have been going downhill instead of improving.

Well going by the fact that the trees were dying before the Updyke incident, I think most people around the state knew there was little chance they were going to live much longer.
