Is Mike Stoops going to make an immediate difference at OU?

I'm not going to go full OUtard and start claiming that their D is going to do this or that...

I mean, the guy didn't have the BEST D at Arizona. Given, he was recruiting kids for Arizona...Here's the yearly D rankings:

You can see the peak hit right at his 4th year, damn good national defensive ratings for a middle of the pack PAC12 team wouldn't you say?...took a little slide in '10...and then the wheels fell off this past year. Didn't help that he had to play 3 of the final top 5 BCS teams in his first 4 weeks (ALL OFFENSIVE POWERHOUSES one of those being OSU, the other two Stanford and Oregon).

I guess we'll find out quickly if it is personnel or coaching, eh?

I know this much......Venebles won't get a SHRED of credit if that unit improves.....WOW I had no idea he was that much of an idiot. He should have taken the WVU job in a new york minute. If he ever wants to be a HC, he has to get out of Mike Stoops shadow......can't do that playing second fiddle to him in Norman.

But, as long as he's there, I feel great knowing your D won't reach its full potential.......

He can't hurt anything, thats for sure. At Ariz he was the HC and couldn't focus on the defense like he will be able to at OU. Players seem to reflect the attitude of their coach, that will be a good thing, we have been missing that killer instinct since he left. Mike and Venables made a good team and I look for that to resume. It may take year two of Mike before we really start reaping the rewards of having him back, but I am optimistic about his return.

I think defensive recruits that were on the fence may decide they want to play for OU now because of Mike, maybe not. But either way, getting Mike back was a big plus for OU.

With Bob getting Mike back, and encouraging players to transfer if they aren't going to give 100% to make room for guys that will tells me that losing to TT, Ok St., and Baylor really pissed him off and made him hungry again.

Yeah, I was suprised Venables didn't take one of the other jobs, but him and Mike do make a good team. Two heads are better than one.

possibly, as long as the head in charge isn't Venebles. I'm just completely surprised he would be that stupid. He must not ever want to be a HC.
