With Phil Knight's money, they'll look externally at first for sure. They may go interim, but I think the hammer is about to come down. The rats are all jumping off the ship right now.

hey!!! we get to bring it back after all, Rutgers' coach has left for the Buccanneers who were apparently set on trying to get the random college coach.

looks like coaching jobs are done changing, here's my ranking on all of them so that at the end of the year we can laugh if one of the higher ranked hires fails and one of the lower hires does really good.
1. Urban Meyer(Ohio State)- he's the most sure thing, he will succeed at Ohio State, only concerns are the health "concerns" 2. Mike Leach(Washington State)- he has brought instant recognition to Washington State, plus he's a great coach as well. 3. Gus Malzahn(Arkansas State)- he's taking over a great spot at Arkansas State plus he will be a good coach himself, only concern is he hasn't been a head coach before. 4. Tim Beckman(Illinois)- he a really good and underrated coach, good hire for Illinois 5. Paul Chyrst(Pitt)- he's a rising assistant good hire by Pitt. 6. Jim McElwain(Colorado State)- he is another top assistant, good hire for Colorado State. 7. Rich Rod(Arizona)- he's a very hit or miss hire, good news is he should bring a good offense to Arizona, bad news is Arizona's defense was terrible with a good defensive minded coach, how bad will it get now?? 8. Kevin Sumlin(Texas A&M)- he's certainly one of the biggest rising candidates, will be interesting to see how he does though, he went 5-7 the year before at Houston. 9. Hugh Freeze(Ole Mrs)- he's a riser among the coaching ranks 10. Larry Fedora(North Carolina)- he's another good rising hire 11. Tony Levine(Houston)- if the bowl game was any indication he should be a good hire for Houston 12. Matt Campbell(Toledo)- Toledo kept him in house and he kept a lot of the assistants good job by both Toledo and Campbell. 13. Terry Bowden(Akron)- he brings some name recognition to Akron, he wasn't great at North Alabama though. 14. Tim DeRuyter(Fresno State)- he was a solid defensive coordinator and has built a good staff at Fresno State. 15. Ellis Johnson(Southern Mrs)- he was another rising coordinator, he also got a job at a solid Southern Mrs program. 16. Carl Pelini(FAU) 17. Charlie Weis(Kansas)- only ranked this high because he does have people talking about Kansas football at least. 18. Justin Fuente(Memphis) 19. Norm Chow(Hawai'i) 20. Charlie Molnar(UMass) 21. Bill O'Brien(Penn State) 22. Todd Graham(Arizona State) 23. Curtis Johnson(Tulane) 24. Kyle Flood(Rutgers) 25. Garrett McGee(UAB) 26. Bob Davie(New Mexico) 27. Jim Mora Jr.(UCLA)

You should put Paul Chryst at #2 or #3. The only thing he hasn't proven is that he can be a head coach. The guy is an offensive mastermind taking over a program that is used to pro-style offense.
