I had a long flight back to Atlanta today w/a almost a 2 hour layover, so I had a lot of time to kill. FWIW, here's some useless trivia.
In my boredom and spare time I started thinking Clemson football...specifically about our home winning percentage. I was thinking about how nice it is to be undefeated at home, and 20-4 at home under Dabo. (As much crap as I've given him, I have to at least give him credit give him credit for making Death Valley a lot more deadly than it had been in recent history.) I then decided to compile a list of home record stats for all Clemson coaches since Frank Howard, and then some stats of our home record during certain time frames in the Death Valley era. Pointless, yes, but again, I had A LOT of time to kill. Who knows, maybe someone will find it interesting. COACHES HOWARD: 80-31-2 (70.79%) INGRAM: 7-9 (43.75%) PARKER: 12-9-1 (54.54%) PELL: 9-2 (81.81%) FORD: 53-12-3 (77.94%) HATFIELD: 22-3-1 (84.61%) WEST: 18-13 (58.06%) BOWDEN: 46-17 (73.01%) SWINNEY: 20-4 (83.33%) DEATH VALLEY ERA ALL-TIME ('42-'11): 267-97-6 (72.16%) LAST 25 YEARS: 116-39-1 (74.56%) LAST 20 YEARS: 90-35 (72.00%) LAST 15 YEARS: 72-28 (72.00%) THIS MILLENNIUM: 63-19 (76.82%) LAST 10 YEARS: 54-15 (78.26%) LAST 5 YEARS: 28-7 (80.00%) THE "REAL" DEATH VALLEY? I also decided to look into the Death Valley debate. Even though LSU's Tiger Stadium opened almost 20 years before Clemson's Memorial Stadium, we all know that Memorial Stadium is the ORIGINAL Death Valley. That said, we've all seen/heard debates about who the REAL Death Valley is, w/LSU fans insisting that they own that title. Not so. Clemson's home winning percentage in Memorial Stadium (1942-2011) is 72.16% (267-97-6), and LSU's home winning percentage in Tiger Stadium over the same time frame is only 70.02% (313-123-11).

Good find; welcome to hoopla! I hope you'll find it far superior than the shit ESPN tries to pass off as "robust..." Make sure to read the rules and most folks hang out at the water cooler (aka general forum).

Poor ole Hatfield. He wasn't that bad, He just couldn't fill the shoes. I don't think anyone could have though.
Hatfield's record @ Clemson 1990 Clemson 10-2 1991 Clemson 9-2-1 1992 Clemson 5-6 1993 Clemson 8-3 Overall: 32-13-1 Not to mention he won our last Conference Championship. Last edited by Edisto_Tiger; 11-18-2011 at 07:22 PM. |
